I have been wanting to go to Helen’s for a long time. It just never worked out. Spoiler alert; I liked it. I usually like to go to the original location. I think it is safe to assume the sausage is the same at both locations. I like Newark in the summer with minimal UD students. $8 for a double sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, you know I like that. I got American cheese. Next time I am going to try the cheddar. It was a little dry but good. I don’t see me waiting in any of the long lines I see people waiting in to get Helen’s Sausage. PS, the 2 young woman working there were great.

This CAN'T be part of the sausage brand from Smyrna! The hostess is the ONLY pleasant thing about my visit. I brought two double sausage sandwiches, one had half a sausage, I asked for cheese for one, which they put on the bread and made it soggy, the eggs were not fully cooked, I ordered two sandwiches, tuna and chicken salad, between them they had less than 1/3 once of chicken or tuna salad, we thought they were just bread wrapped in foil until we opened the bread. I will NEVER come here again, I rather go to Smyrna!

Pros: prices are reasonable, menu is simple, staff seem relatively organized for only being open a few weeks, generous amount of bacon Cons: food is cold, cheddar cheese sauce tastes cheap, way too much bread for the amount of food, food is not made to order - it’s assembled like at Wawa, egg was sad, bread was a cheap hot dog bun Walk the extra half block to The Original Hot Bagels, pay $1.00 extra, and have a meal worthy of putting inside your body

Throw the whole store in the trash. There was no customers in the store which should had been my first clue. Why is everything pre-made sitting in a container. A pre-made fried egg is crazy. Even the sausages are sitting in a container pre-made. Everything tasted nasty. Not to mention the cashier (older lady) not listening when I placed the order. She charged me 21.50. Then she sees the young lady putting my food together and trys to correct her. So I respectfully corrected the cashier and told her that the young lady was making exactly what I ordered. So the cashier says oh I'm sorry I wasn't listening. I didn't charge you for one of the sandwiches. She says you owe me 6.50. When I went to hand her the money she says its actually 7.30. Annoyed I replied and said are you going to keep changing the price. My first experience there was terrible Nothing like the original Helen's. Don't waste your...

I've gone to Helen's in Smyrna for years. When I heard they were opening up a location in Newark near where I live, I went there as soon as possible. The sausages and other food items that I ordered were outstanding, just like at the original location. However, the wait was crazy long. And I'm not exactly sure why. In Smyrna, there were often long lines as well, but they moved quickly. In Newark, the line started outside of the building, which I'm not surprised by. But even after I got into the building, it was still almost an hour until I placed my order. Everyone in line was good natured about the wait. All of the staff were kind and helpful. But for whatever reason the wait was just really long. Oh well, after I ate my sausage sandwich I felt...

After being gifted a delicious sausage sandwich from Smyrna I had to get another one. "One week later", since main st Newark is closer,,,, away I went to Newark. Lady working there was nice and there were two cute girls fixing the food. I had the same sandwich as I had from Smyrna, one link 2 eggs and Mayo. It just wasn't put together as nicely as the one from Smyrna. I think the two young girls putting the food together weren't really into food Prep or having to work but they were great . So $9.10 later I was eating in my truck. Will I ever go back to Newark? yes it was fine, excellent in fact. UPDATE: Went back7/30/24. Great food. Sandwich was made by a young guy. Better than the first trip. Went back again...
