Being a gujrathi myself i uded to love this place. But after covid the quality and quantity of the food has gone down dramatically. We ordered food at around 7.40 for 4 ppl..one mini thali, 2 chole puri, 1 sabudana and 1 shaak rotli and we paid around 60+tips. The food was served to us at 7.47 and we finished eating and were out the door @ 8.10.
The chole we ordered felt like they removed it out of a refrigerator and warmed up in the microwave, very very dry and no gravy at all. Visually? the food and the plate didn't look appeasing. I wish I would have take a picture of how pathetic it looked. The rice in the mini thali was dry and not basmati, the sabzi I felt like was microwaved . The quality and quantity both have gone down hill dramatically.
The use and throw paper plates were a turn down. Before covid I used to love this place, the thalis were served in steel plates and bowl, they also used to serve good quantity, but I was very disappointed with the food i ordered today. Not to mention, my kids asked how come the food came so quickly...ofcourse if they just need to microwave. The Roti in the roti shak order felt like they were made a couple if hours before may have been pan warmed. I understand, no one makes food every day. Many resturants make it in quantity and store away, but when someone orders food atleast have the courtesy to warm up the food in a pan so by the time you serve and customer starts eating, the food doesn't become cold and it looks some what fresh.
DONT MICROWAVE FOOD AND SERVE TO CUSTOMERS WHO ARE PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR A DECENT MEAL.
We pay for what you ask, but we do not get the same in return. I do not think I will visit this...
Read moreRancid raita... The first time we had found the food interesting as they had some fusion dishes such as Mumbai Quesadilla etc... the second time was horrible... we went in the afternoon... my wife ordered Punjabi Thali... while the dish of the day, the Paneer Tikka Masala was good, the Raita (yogurt) was unforgivable... not khatta or any thing, but pure rancid... my wife called the server (we never actually return food) and said the raita is no good. Funny, he didn't seem surprised at all, asked not one question and quietly took it back... five minutes later he comes back with proper-tasting raita... please tell me: if he had a good raita, why did he bring out the rancid one out? Well, even if he didn't have good raota, he had no right to serve rancid stuff!! He knew very well it was rancid. Second, my daughter had ordered the Pani puri... which we tried very hopefully too... something was not fresh here either... maybe potatoes...or sprouted stuff, but the masala liquid (pani) and overall taste was the WORST pani puri all three of us have ever tested in out entire lives combined... without a doubt! Even if they get the Pani from a store, it will taste 10 times better. Never going back...
Read moreOrdered Dhokla, Masala Kichadi n other items - it was stale and i threw up after eating it. Called the restaurant and was told - we get dhokla from outside in batches - it was from “yesterday or day before but it was good to eat”; for kichadi which is the gujrati everyday staple diet - i was told it too was from yesterday and we dont make everything fresh everyday. No hotel in bay area serves fresh and so they dont either! I told them i was pregnant and stale food is not what customers pay for irrespective of my personal situation. I was told - i should eat only at home if you are pregnant and asked why are you eating out. This was so shocking !! apart from the fact the serving stale food everyday is routine for these guys! So instead of acknowledging there mistake n correcting they are saying we will continue to serve stale food, compromise on the quality. I told them to mention this on their menu - which items are stale to which I was told, yes we will do that, you can do...
