Puerto Vallarta — Restaurant in Newark

Stopped in after picking up my mom and Step-dad at the airport and the wait for Bag of Nails was over 30 minutes. Food was ok when we finally got it. I got 3 tamales and the beef chimichanga, mom had a bean and cheese burrito and crunchy taco and step dad got some kind fish entree, don't remember what it was. Food didn't come out all at one time, and part of it was wrong. Brought my step dad fish tacos, and mom got the wrong tacos. Her burrito had beef and beans with no cheese. Sent back both items, my tamales looked huge until I cut into them and realized they were 85%masa and very little meat. The meat that was in it was good, just not enough. The chimichanga came out after everything else at the table, including what was sent back. It was also the smallest chimichanga I have ever seen. The tacos we bigger than it was. Part of the Food was brought by a runner, while the server brought the rest. The server was pleasant enough, but I think she was overwhelmed and the runner seemed to be new. I try to be understanding of servers, it's not their fault if it gets busy or the kitchen makes a mistake. However, once she finally did bring the correct food over, she immediately brought the check, didn't check in to make sure it was everything was OK or check that the remade items were alright. It just felt like she was telling us to get out. Just overall not a great experience and we probably won't be returning...

Food is always amazing. The staff is always so nice and friendly. They always make the experience worth it. I always try to tip 30% or more because the place is honesty one of my favorites. I’d be giving a stark raving 5 star review if it wasn’t for the staff member who answered phone. I understand it’s stressful being so busy on a weekend. But when I called at 8pm, 3 hours before they closed, I did not expect the rude staff member who answered the phone. When I called, he picked up without saying anything. I asked if I could place a pick up order. The man said “what do you want?” I order my gf’s food first. He said “what else?” I ordered my food. He just said “15 minutes.” And as I went to hang up, he said “tell them order 15.” And hung up. NEVER has the staff acted this standoffish before. I’ve come here at least 35+ times in 2 years. My family usually enjoys going here, today I went on my own and service was sadly lacking as was the meal. The steak fajita portion was small compared to our past experiences. The metal pan it was served on was so hot it was burning the vegetables and steak - no server to ask for another plate so I transfered it to the wooden bottom plate and put the hot pan on my napkins as to not burn the table. Waiter came by over 20 mins later and lectured me on the fact this could have cracked the table - my response was it was way too hot for the food and I did put napkins under it (he just walked away) .
