An update from July 2023
I recently visited the Newark Roosters again. Their service has not changed. It is as great as was last time. However, I liked their food a little better. I had hot chicken wings and a blt. The wings were moist and still big in size. The blt was not that good (I would not get it again). I expected toast, but got bun. I also expected bacon of a better quality. The atmosphere was rambunctious. I wondered whether the men seated around the bar (who seem to be there every time I dine in that place) are the permanent display, a kind of living decor that is maintained by the restaurant for the purpose of providing the real small-town feel. Overall, due to a positive experience, I am increasing my score to four stars. That's a high praise from me indeed.
A popular (busy) interesting place, though food not so interesting. What is the best? Definitely the staff. Very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is bar-like. Loud, plenty of screens above. You can watch games though most people seem to watch each other and their food. If you are not into sports, this place will provide endless objects of interest in the form of the locals, sometimes not too appetizing (like the girl who eats with her mouth open or another who likes showing her finger "birds" to others). The food is quite a disappointment. I tried their burger and hot wings. The burger was bland, not as succulent as I expected and like. The wings were big--that's the best part of them. The meat was positively dry, even though each wing was externally doused with a generous amount of red, spicy, though fairly flavorless sauce. Overall,...
Read moreI dined in at 1:50 today. Their was 1 server working and the store was jam full. We did not get most of our food and we had to track someone down for a re fill because after 30 mins of no drinks and getting some of our food not all, we decided to NOT TIP as we got our own drinks, had to cancel food we wanted and we cleaned up after our selfs leaving the table spotless. Went home hungry and thirsty and I asked for a discount for being ignored and I was told no because she canceled the food we didn't get. Could of at least comped the tea as we got no refills . It's 100% managements fault for putting costermers out like that. Why take it out on us because management won't help the 1 server working right now ??? You can get staff from other stores. Then the host said " have a nice day " I said I would try our experience was not enjoyable as we had to locate someone for a simple tea, boxes, and to cancel the rest of our food by the host. The one server then raised her voice saying " have a nice day " I fr just walked out crying because I only told the host we needed help and I just cleaned up my table and payed $33 and left. Expensive 1 glass tea and a salad . For 2. So a total of 2 salids and 2 teas. I feel ignored and not hurd. I fought anyone will try to reach out to me. Do better. I work 50 hours weeks and I couldn't even enjoy 1 sit down meal. That's why I left crying. That was the 1 thang I looked forward to was 1 nice lunch with my husband who I hardly get to see because he works a lot too. Imagine going to a sit down place and not being helped with drinks and not getting your order just your side salids and your hungry and...
Read moreI frequent many Roosters around the Columbus-area regularly. I stopped into the Newark location because we were visiting friends out of town and wanted a quick bite to eat. The hostess sat us at a table that had not been cleaned and it still had the check from the last customer. We waited about 10 minutes at that table as the wait staff kept walking past us. No one made any contact with us or attempted to clean off the table.
So, we got up and sat at the bar. The bartender looked at us, then continued talking about her personal life to another couple sitting at the bar. We waited for another 10 minutes at the bar, as she laughed about what she did last night and other servers walked in and out of the bar.
Finally, I asked the young bar back if he could get someone to serve us. He asked the bartender, she gave him the hold on finger and then he found another lady. After getting our drinks it took another 15 minutes to order our food from the bartender. She started taking the orders of those sitting around us that sat down later than us.
The food took about 45 minutes to get. We were never checked back up on…while sitting at the bar 🙄 After I asked for the check by hollering across the bar, she came over and asked if wanted more drinks. We said no, because we wanted to get the hell out of there and our drinks were empty during our meal anyways.
The restaurant was not extremely busy, the food was not as good as other locations and the service was terrible! If you want to try Roosters give another location a try before this one ruins...
