Golden Leaf Thai — Restaurant in Newberg

MONUMENTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I took my daughter out the weekend before her birthday for a father daughter date to celebrate her 21st birthday. As we approached the door we were accosted by two extremely intoxicated men who were loitering outside the front door. When we entered the restaurant @6:10 pm, we were left standing there ignored, not sure if we were to seat ourselves or to wait for a hostess. After we were finally seated at our table, it took another 15 min. before our waitress came to take our order (which seemed a bit long since less than 1/2 of the restaurant was occupied). Thinking we had plenty of time to have our meal and make a local play we were going to that started at 7:30... I began to get concerned when we had been sitting for over 55 min. and still no food! At that point I went to the front counter to ask the waitress "how much longer until our food arrived? (since we were ignored up to that point!) and was told another 10-15 min which would have given us only 5 min to eat our meal! At that point I told the waitress We had been waiting for over an 70 min. At that point I told the waitress we were out of time and had to go to make a play. (She didn't charge me for the Thai iced tea we ordered) but wanted to know if we wanted our meal "take out"? "why would I pay for take out only to leave it in the trunk of my car for 3 hours? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Needles to say my daughter's 21st birthday experience at this restaurant was a disaster! This was the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant...EVER Needless to say I will never...

I come to Golden leave every couple of months. I always order the same thing, green curry. The flavor of the curry is great, however there is variability in what vegetables are used. I typically wish there were more fresh vegetables, brighter color and more interesting presentation. The music and ambiance is a bit silly inside. It sounds like you are sitting in a Thai music box... can seem the same song is repeating over and over. Generally, it appears empty inside but the restaurant has a ton of seating so patrons are just spread out. Sometimes I have wondered if it would be possible for the front to be used for the Golden Leaf restaurant and menu and convert the back into another option. Maybe a small ethnic bar or place we could come for Happy Hour cocktails and snacks. Maybe just a different rendition of the menu with...

This is the second time ordered from golden leaf Thai. I moved to the are 6 months ago and the food was not to my sub par. I just ordered from again this restaurant tonight and it is still not good. Let me clarify; the pad Thai is made with only a tamarind sauce that is cloying and overly sweet. You get a homogeneous blend of noodles, sugar, sambal for heat and a sprinkle of bean sprouts on top. I have an upset stomach from all the sugar in this dish. No flavor! I am a chef, I have been the head of an Indian restaurant as well as mostly french and American cuisine. I'm am very disappointed in the taste of this food. I do not want a refund and the only reason for leaving this negative review is that the owner of this establishment needs to know that the food is in serious need of repair.
