Fine Mexican eating can be found almost everywhere BUT for the connoisseur of exceptional dining, fine Latin chow is few and far between! The absolute, undisputed, and crowned champion of the PNW is Kopitos!!! I don’t care if it is authentic and neither will you because the food is so good nothing else matters! My entire family ate here and everyone kept saying the same thing, over and over again (in between bites) “ This is so —-king good!” We each got different plates. My son said “These are the best tacos I’ve ever eaten!” Yeah, it kinda hurt because up until now, mine were his absolute favorite! My wife just growled at me and readjusted the grip on her fork when I asked her about her meal. After 30 years of marriage, my interpretation of that is, “Yes, the meal is good” and “No you can’t have a bite! Do you want to lose an eye today? No? Then back away from my plate slowly and hum me a nice tune while you are backing away”! I got a burger! I know! Getting a burger at a fine dining establishment is like wearing hokey skates to an Olympic Figure skating competition. People are gonna wonder what you’re thinking! I’m thinking I might just miss out on the best burger known to man if I don’t try and find it and I gotta say, I may have found it! Love is a funny thing, after you fall in love, it seems to consume your entire being. It’s all you can think about! The burger had heat. No, it didn’t taste like a taco, it was perfectly seasoned! A slice of pineapple to sweeten the heat! The fries were the kind you eat by the handful and just guzzle the fry sauce. Possibly hold off on guzzling that sauce because it is hot! Like habanero type hot. Delicious!!! Too good to eat in just one sitting but blasphemous to attempt to reheat! The things that truly tear at the soul are choosing between the passions of the moment! Yeah! I ate the whole thing! Don’t judge me, please! Looking to take that someone special out for an unforgettable dinner? Kopitos has got...
Read moreI stopped in for late lunch today. I’m a hospice nurse that travels all over Portland. I have been wanting to stop here. I really wanted some enchiladas, but they weren’t on the menu. But they had the happy hour menu. I’m a bariatric patient, so I can’t eat much. So I ordered the HH street tacos. It comes with 3 tacos. I got 2 carnitas (cause I’m a pork junkie), and one steak. It was not the regular asada, it was the flat iron. I ate the steak taco first, and it was outrageous! Omg so good. The corn tortillas must be homemade, because the fresh corn flavor was out of this world. I was already getting full, but I had to try the carnitas. It had been cooked perfect. Crispy and still moist. And I have to say, this was the best carnitas I’ve ever had. Ever. I was so happy that I had one taco left to bring home to my partner. He is a Mexican food junkie. And carnitas is his favorite as well. He was not a fan of the onions and cilantro, which I knew. But he also thought it was top of the line pork! Omg this place is soooo good. But I also want to mention a few other things. The restaurant was beyond clean. Absolutely beautiful and boutique like. I loved that they turned this spot into something so great. And the service was amazing! The waitress was so very sweet and attentive. Since I was working, I was also charting. I always appreciate when the wait staff notice I’m actually multi tasking by eating and working. And she did perfect. Enough attention that I had exactly what I needed, but not too much that I was able to still do my work. I will be back for sure! I always wanted to stop at the food truck, but I never had the time. So I’m so happy I was able to go today! You really need to try this food. It’s some of the best...
Read moreWe were excited to try the brick and mortar restaurant after having had enjoyed the food truck several times. We went around 6:30 on a Thursday night. Our party was seated promptly outside on the back patio with lovely live music. The restaurant was moderately busy, but there were still several unoccupied tables.
Sadly, the experience took a nose dive from there. We didn't get approached by the waiter for over 15 minutes. When they did come, we ordered drinks and food. We ordered a margarita and beer, the cauliflower appetizer, the crab tostadas and the ranchero plate.
Fast forward 30 minutes and we still hadn't seen our drinks. Our waiter came back at that point and told my husband they were out of the beer he had ordered. He selected another beer and it was brought out promptly, but there was no sign of my margarita for 10 more minutes. When it did arrive, it tasted watered down and definitely not worth the $15 price tag.
Fifty minutes after we had ordered the food was delivered. The crab tostadas were tasty, however the cauliflower was limp and sitting in 1/2" of oil, and the ranchero plate was cold. We flagged the waitress down and she told us she could take it back and put it in the microwave. After it was warmed that way, the food was inedible. They did take the cost of the plate off the bill, but we all left hungry.
A huge miss - very expensive, bad food quality and service. We...
