My wife and I visited for our honeymoon and while the service was pleasant, the food was completely underwhelming in almost every way. It’s a tasting menu, so smaller, more curated dishes are to be expected–but every course was either very under seasoned, or just…boring.
The salmon was not fresh at all and I could smell the fishy-ness as they brought it out from the kitchen. It was a blah course overall.
The pasta and romesco sauce were devoid of any salt whatsoever, and the accompanying pork belly (2 bacon bits sized pieces mind you) were dry and hard.
The steak course was fine, but that’s a low bar as it’s not hard to cook a good quality steak.
The dessert course seemed like they didn’t know what exactly they wanted to do and threw a few things together which was a rubbery mess overall.
The atmosphere was also…something. But I’ll leave that up to personal preference and ultimately isn’t why we chose this option for our honeymoon.
The Painted Lady simply does not live up to the experience one would expect to have when spending $460 on dinner. This may seem as a harsh review, but we wish we would’ve known better before coming and made other plans.
We’ve visiting numerous other fine dining establishments (including tasting menu dinners) while spending less $$ and having 10x the experience in every...
Read moreWe booked the Painted Lady this trip to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday and chose the 8 course tasting menu. We were not disappointed in the food. One of the best meals I have had in a restaurant. Unfortunately the same can’t be said about the wine pairings. We decided to purchase the wine pairings even though it was quite expensive - $90 per person. We were looking forward to the chefs choices of wines to enhance his food. Our server said we would get a healthy 2 oz pour of each wine and an explanation of the wine choice each time. We barely got an oz and except for one, none were very good or did anything elevate the beautiful food. It almost tasted as if the wines had been opened for a few days and we were being served the final bit in each bottle. We were also disappointed that the wines were mostly old world French and Italian when we had travelled from central Canada to taste the delicious wines from Oregon. So I can’t recommend the wine pairing menu. We could have purchased much nicer wines and had many more glasses of each for he $360 US it costs the 4 of us! Lesson...

This is a MUST of your in the area, and if your not, get in a car, train, plane, whatever you need to do to get here, because you won't EVER be disappointed. We have been making the trek from SW Washington for years and have never had a complaint!
I miss their experimental winter dinner series, as it was such a treat in the dark cold days that persist in the PMW at this time. Truly something to look forward to in the winter, just because it was on the lighter side of serious, but the food was always delicious and of the same quality you get during a "regular" dining experience here.
Service, plating, quality are just fantastic!
We are so glad you survived the pandemic and we watched the health and well being of our favorite restaurants during that time like some people watch the Dow Jones!
Thank you for the time and effort and sacrifice it must have taken to pull through that crazy and sad time!
A world in which food like this ceases to exist isn't worth much in...
