New China — Restaurant in Newberry Township

I was in the area and wanted Chinese food. This was my first time trying New China. The customer service was not good. Upon calling to place my pickup order, the woman who answered simply answered the phone, no mention of the business name. The ordering experience otherwise was straightforward. Since it's located in a shopping center, there was plenty of parking. The restaurant itself had some tables, but it appeared it was more of a takeout place.

The woman who answered the phone was also working the counter; she was hurried and lacked any customer service skills. The food itself was below average. The crab rangoon was a bit oily and lacked much flavor. The General Tso's sauce was okay, but it had a weird aftertaste. The broccoli was almost nonexistent. The egg drop soup was okay, but the noodles were very stale.

The pineapple chicken was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. It had zero taste and the texture was off. The pineapple was gray. It was like they boiled the chicken and vegetables and put it in a clear sauce. The lo mein had the tiniest shrimp in it and the overall taste was sub par. I didn’t have any but my son said the steamed dumplings didn’t have much of a taste. They only gave us one rice for five people so not every one could get some with their meals. Unlike other Chinese restaurants this place is quick on service and food always seems freshly made. Doesn't upset the stomach if you know what I mean. Inside is small and has some seating(never sat and ate) personally as I always call ahead and get it to go. Normal wait time on to go orders is 10-15 minutes. Longest was 20 minutes when they were busy. Prices are fair and get plenty of food. Overall no complaints and I'm a...
