Chronic Tacos Newport Beach Balboa — Restaurant in Newport Beach

It was my first time visiting Newport Beach. I’m from California, specifically San Diego. My experience was terrible; I regret wasting my money here right away. One of the workers, especially the one who wears a bandana on his head, seemed like a criminal and gave off a very dark and negative energy. He did not want to be at work, and you could tell he hates his job.

Upon entering the restaurant, he looked at me and my family with an upset expression, rushing me and my partner to place our order, then ignoring us when we weren’t ready. When I asked him for a suggestion, he was extremely unhelpful and didn’t provide an answer; he seemed very bothered. I was so hungry that I decided to stay and order food from here.

Unfortunately, the food was not good; it was cold, and the negative energy he transmitted ruined my appetite and meal. If I could leave 6 stars I would, I came from out of town and was looking with my family for something bomb and we came upon chronic tacos. The food was freaking amazing, and I sadly do not remember the gentleman’s name who I spoke to I believe it was Negardo or Ricardo, I apologize if I got that wrong but he was freaking awesome just as well as the gentlemen who prepared my order. I got the California burrito with sour cream and I had to go back for their churro bites. No word in the dictionary could describe how phenomenal those churro bites were and how great the burrito was. Next time I’m in Newport I’ll be back every day I’m there. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you’re on the beach. The service was spectacular, the food was quality, the atmosphere was excellent. Stopped by on the afternoon of 03/21/25 while some friends and I were waiting for a whale watching cruise nearby. Our friend wanted to grab some food here and while I wasn’t initially hungry, the delicious smells while we waited made me curious enough to try it and boy, am I glad I did. I tried the fish tacos and was pleasantly blown away by them! Flavorful, fresh, and filling I was immediately a fan of how great the quality and flavor of the food was. I can be kind of picky when it comes to fish tacos so I was very happy with deciding to give them a try.
