Extremely Disappointing Experience at Newport Beach Location
I'm a regular at the Hollywood Joe & the Juice and was thrilled when they opened a location in Newport Beach. Unfortunately, this visit was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
My girlfriend and I came in for lunch, and the first thing that hit us was the incredibly loud music. The interior design suggests a comfortable space where you could sit with a laptop and work, but with that noise level, it's completely impossible. We couldn't even hear each other and had to shout over the music, so we left as quickly as we could.
After waiting in a long line, we were greeted by a staff member (she wasn't wearing a name tag) in a dirty black t-shirt. She appeared exhausted and irritated, rushing through everything carelessly and even charged me twice by mistake. We tried to scan our app to earn points, but the QR code wouldn't work. Her response? "Yeah, the app is weird, I guess it won't work this time. Sorry." She made absolutely no effort to help resolve the issue or offer any kind of compensation. When we asked her questions, she seemed to ignore us completely and gave irrelevant responses.
She also handed us our order - same rushed manner, same unpleasant attitude. I don't understand why someone would show up to work if they hate their job, and more importantly, why management would hire staff like this.
The food itself was terrible. We ordered two lattes, a Joe Club sandwich, and a Tuna Avocado sandwich. The sandwiches were soggy and incredibly strange, and the coffee was undrinkable. At other Joe & the Juice locations, the food looks completely different, and the atmosphere and service are on another level entirely.
We immediately checked Google reviews and found numerous negative reviews. I don't know what the manager or corporate leadership is thinking. Why hire such unprofessional and miserable staff? Why damage the reputation of the entire brand? I hope management takes immediate action and makes serious changes to how this location operates, because it's currently impossible to visit and it's discrediting the entire company.
I won't be returning to this location until I see...
Read moreBeen dying to see what the hype is about and wasn’t shocked to see that it was definitely overhyped. Ordered the avocado sandwich through their app & was a super easy process which was nice. The overall atmosphere is very clean and nice which I can appreciate— & they also had a very clean bathroom! However when it comes down to the food, it’s just an overpriced mid sandwich. $32 for 2 avocado sandwiches & they BARELY fill the sandwich with ingredients. It’s honestly more of a bread ratio to ingredient ratio— and for the price you’re paying, there’s absolutely no reason you should have to order double of anything! Overall I probably wouldn’t recommend, especially if you’re a vegetarian or vegan like me & only have the avocado option. I make way better at home for a fraction of the cost if i’m being completely honest. The only reason I would stop here is out of convenience from ordering in-app & by the sandwich packaging— making it easy to eat on the go. However I would say it’s a pass for me, just...
Read moreI just wanted to give a big shoutout to Isaac at the Joe & the Juice Fashion Island location! I stopped by today to pick up what I thought was my mobile order, only to realize I had accidentally ordered at the Glendale location instead 😅. Isaac was so kind and understanding. Instead of making it a hassle, he just smiled and said it was no problem, then quickly remade my order for me.
Not everyone is that kind or patient in situations like this, especially when things get busy, but he handled it with such professionalism and genuine kindness. I really appreciated it.
This Fashion Island location is still fairly new, and I’ve seen how busy they can get, but the team (and especially Isaac) are doing a great job. I come here at least once a week and it’s great to see them doing so well. Thanks again, Isaac — your kindness really...
