I have to say, I am impressed with Newport Sandwich Company’s food. I had the Super Beef with bbq sauce, and fries, my wife had the grilled cheese with beef and vegetables soup. The Super Beef on the onion roll and au jus with a taste of bbq sauce was excellent. The bbq sauce wasn’t the upfront flavor, the beef was, and they complemented each other perfectly. The fries were seasoned nicely, and the grilled cheese, well, it was grilled cheese on a damp, cloudy Rhode Island day (yum). HOWEVER…the winner to me was the beef with vegetables soup. Good Lawd…my momma (I’m Illinois born and raised) made soup like this and I was always dreading the dry chunks of beef…HOWEVER, quite the opposite here. This soup is hearty and filled with beef and veggies and above all…FLAVOR! They also gave us samples of the potato leek soup which was also delicious, however didn’t compliment my tastes with all the beef. I highly recommend trying the Newport Sandwich Company! Locals…get it while you can, because come this spring and summer, you’ll be hard pressed to get downtown and able...

I was told about this place by a friend who found it several years ago. "Best roast beef ever. Period" he said. "Worth the hunt." When I finally got to a motorcycle trip through Newport, I understood what he meant. Their signature roast beef sandwich was simply (one of) the BEST roast beef sandwiches I've ever had. Perfectly roasted, shaved and piled high on a lightly toasted onion roll, with the right balance of melted American cheese, mayo and a slightly sweet BBQ sauce. But the beef was clearly the star of the show. Tender and full of flavor. (Be warned - this is not a neat and dainty sandwich.) I've had Al's and Johnnie's in Chicago, and Nick's in Philadelphia. Takes a lot for me to write a bad review…but I was generally shocked by the service. I ordered two sandwiches which the menu board said each included a side salad. After an incredibly long wait, I was handed the two sandwiches without salads. When I asked about the salads, I was told “oh we don’t have sides today.” The menu clearly stated it was included. I would think you could at least inform customers when they ordered or offer a discount if part of the meal you thought you were ordering wasn’t available. The food was fine,...
