Let me pretense this review with something: I was going to chalk up my experience as a fluke, a bad day, but then I got curious and looked up reviews. I was wrong. Seeing all these one and two star reviews and then reading what they had to say, this building, this business, is a joke and not the ‘haha’ kind. I’ve worked in food before, fast food mind you, and my current occupation has me dealing in many similar fashions to this job, food service and customer service, so I know how things work and what is to be expected.
The building itself isn’t terribly off (today) tables need cleaning is the worse I can see (without daring to enter the restrooms after reading some reviews) when coming in. Issue one: They are seemingly out of just about anything. They only have White, Wheat and ‘some’ Herb & Cheese breads. All of which are flat and misshapen from not being handled and baked correctly. They are missing at least half of their veggies including but not limited to: Pickles, Olives, Peppercinis (spelling?), Guacamole, and Lite Mayo (not a vegetable but I don’t know what all sauces they are missing). They are out of both Rootbeer & Dr Pepper. I’m allergic to Potatos and they are out of nearly all their chips and all the non-potato options are gone. And the most baffling of all they are out of Napkins. Subway is known to give out little to no napkins with orders so where did they all go? Issue two: Employees are nice enough, some kind of laugh off the issues while others outright ignore you when you bring something up. They aren’t entirely forth coming with telling customers with their lack of certain items either, they sometimes mention the vegetables being gone before you order but not always or sometimes after you are already part way through the ordering process. Would it be so hard to just print out some sheets saying what you are all out of and have hung out so people can see up front if they will want to stay for this less than sub-par experience in dining? Issue three: My sandwich was so mangled and is mess that it litterially was falling apart in my hands. It was nearly wadded up and just flopped into the basket.
It is apparent that whomever owns/runs this location does not care about it, it’s customers, or it’s employees. They are constantly hiring and I can see why now. It’s hard to tell if the employees aren’t well trained or just don’t care. Unless there is a HUGE turnaround I’d avoid this place unless you are DESPERATE.
If 0 Stars was capable it would have happened.
EDIT As we were leaving my Husband dared to go into the restroom to get a paper towel to blow his nose (because there were no napkins) and the bathroom was a mess and the tolilet was “F*ed Up” in his words. The trashes were overfilled and baskets were piled up high and no one was taking care of any of it despite it not being very...
Read moreUnfortunately, we just left this restaurant and we received terrible service, at least the service we did receive. We pulled into the drive thru to order because of the multiple signs saying "Drive Thru Open." We waited at the ordering station in the drive thru for 10 minutes. Not once did someone say hello or try to take our order.
So, we thought they were busy inside and couldn't get to the drive thru. As we drove past the drive thru window, where a customer would pay and receive their food, we noticed only two employees inside and only one customer. Neither employee had a drive thru head set on so they probably didn't even know we were waiting to order for so long.
We parked and took my daughter inside to order her a sandwich. We only ordered one six inch sandwich. As we stood at the counter while my daughter told the male employee what she wanted, we watched the female employee walk to the drive thru station and start eating her own sandwich. After a minute or two, she got up to assist the male employee, without washing her hands or using gloves, after touching her own food. Additionally, there was loud, very explicit rap music playing in the restaurant which included the use of the "N" word. This was super unprofessional and inappropriate for not only a business but especially with children inside as well.
My boyfriend then paid with card because the employees said that they could only accept card at this time. He was charged for two six inch sandwiches even though we only ordered one sandwich. He mentioned it to the employees and the female employee told him that they could not issue a refund because neither of them knew how to even process a refund. She offered to make a "free" sandwich to make up for the double charge but we didn't need another sandwich. We only needed the one sandwich.
My boyfriend was very frustrated for the double charge on his card and that neither employee could assist with a simple refund. I was also very shocked that the music being played in the restaurant was allowed to be used. And on top of all that, the service was just terrible. We normally love Subway and we visit Newport often, but we will not be returning to this subway ever again.
I have included a picture of our receipt so you can see all the store information and transaction information. I think the biggest issue is inadequate training to the employees especially if they don't schedule a supervisor or manager to be on site with...
Read moreI need to give Subway props for the new Italian Hero. It's really good.
This Subway always has issues with running out of product, though. Today: no cookies and no turkey breast. Both food items that were on our list. That could be a case of the owner/operator being a tightwad or management not ordering to par. "Lights" by Journey was playing on the radio. Love it. The guys up front were really nice and helpful. Still have an ever-rotating cast of employees. I did see the shorter, heavy-set gal that resembles "Nut Gobbler" from South Park, though. She is loud, fake, and abrasive. Regardless, this Subway worked their way up to 3 stars through dedication, hard work, and possibly controlled substances.
*Google, by removing or deleting this review, you agree to compensate me for tickets to go see Journey. I'm stoked that they have 4 of the members that were there for the hits, but still no Steve Perry. Arnel Pineda is a GREAT facsimile, but the fans want Perry. The problem is that Steve's voice is shot, I mean, when he did sing in public recently after not doing so in many years, it was clear that the backing band had to tune down for him. I agree that it's a normal practice to tune down for older singers, but he's toast. So I for one don't want to live in the past. I'll take Journey...
