Cafe Sol Azteca — Restaurant in Newton

Overall, a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately we took my husband here for his birthday. Please don't consider this restaurant for a date night because it lacks any sort of warm ambiance. Aside from that, the food was very bland. My daughter ordered a chicken quesadilla that was just loaded with cheese (1.5 inches high). She could hardly find any chicken or vegetables, so she hardly touched it. My husband, who usually likes anything Mexican, barely ate his enchilada with Mole sauce which was very thick and not tasty at all. I ordered the chicken fajita, thinking it would be a safe bet, but it didn't come sizzling, the refried beans looked like they were stuck on the plate in a round, unappealing mass and everything, especially the rice, was lukewarm. We had to try and get the waitresses attention to get hot sauce, sour cream and lemonades. She never asked if we needed anything and barely acknowledged us when we were leaving because she was busy chatting. To top everything off, it was expensive for the quality of food. I went there because we wanted Mexican but the service there seemed ok until placing my order which sucked. The menu had one price but the waitress charged me 4.00 more than what it's on. After I paid, I showed them the error instead of reimbursing he gave me the excuse of the man who created the site died. Then I said that's your problem not mine! He got snarky and said it's only 4.00 you want it back I told him it's 4.00 would you serve me if I was 4.00 short he looked like I he saw a ghost and pulled his walled instead of providing good customer service and admit the error. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant because they are not honest or customer oriented people especially the waitress. I can see why she quickly looked away when she saw me come back to show them they over charged me. Imagine how many customers they've been over charging and for how long? That's not good business! They haven't been doing good by their customers! Save yourself the hassle from these used up car sales people money hungry restaurant owner and...

Looking at the other reviews, it seems I am not the only one with an issue regarding the bill!

I ordered the enchiladas suizas with an additional enchilada for takeout. The lady over the phone was very nice.

The food looked really nice, but was a bit bland. Unfortunately there aren’t many other Mexican restaurants in the newton area that serve more than just burritos and tacos.

My issue is with the $39 bill my mom came back with. The enchiladas suizas are normally only $21+tax on grub hub. I called back because I thought they charged for the wrong order, but the lady informed me they charged $13 for the extra enchilada. It seems they tagged a couple dollars on top of that too since $21+$13=$34.

If I had known I would have placed two orders of enchiladas for nearly the same price on grubhub. Or better yet, ordered from...
