If there were an option for zero stars I would have rated this restaurant zero stars, twice. I would never recommend going to Farmstead Table.
My dinner experience started with a reservation, being seated immediately, and then waiting 10 minutes before I could even order a bottle of wine and apps, which took an additional 15+ minutes to arrive to table.
Once the $60 bottle of wine arrived, the waiter said âI hope you donât mind sharing a wine glass as we only have one wine glass left.â We literally had to ask them for any other sort of container of liquid so we could drink our bottle together. They brought out a champagne glass. Fast forward 55 minutes from the time we were seated and we finally got that second wine glass!
Apps came out, and they were just as bad as the wine glass experience. The bread is essentially two pieces of wheat sandwich bread. The mushroom toast is a piece of Texas toast with cheese whiz and lightly sautéed mushrooms.
Weâre 0/3 to this point⊠Some would would say three strikes and youâre outâŠ
However, we decided to stick it out for entrees. They were good, but not redeemable for the extreme lackluster experience to this point.
The steak was cooked nicely, but shouldnât that be expected for a 10 oz cut at $35? The clam spaghetti was average and overall very light on taste.
$150 for a very subpar dinner and terrible experience. Would I go...

Farmstead Table in Newton, MA, is an absolute gem for anyone who loves farm-to-table dining. The restaurant has a warm, cozy atmosphere that feels inviting from the moment you walk in. Itâs clear that a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall experience. The menu changes seasonally, which reflects their commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and it shows in every bite.
The dishes are thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. One of my favorites was the roasted chickenâperfectly cooked with a crisp skin and tender, juicy meat, paired with seasonal vegetables that tasted like they came straight from the farm. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, making each dish stand out on its own. I also recommend their handmade pastas, which are rich and flavorful without being overly heavy.
The service is excellent, with staff thatâs knowledgeable about the menu and eager to share recommendations. The drink menu offers a nice selection of wines and craft cocktails that complement the meals well. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size, making it a great spot for a special night out or a casual meal. I highly recommend Farmstead Table for anyone looking for a fresh, flavorful...
Read moreThis was a fantastic restaurant, This is the definition of a restaurant.. The atmosphere, the quality, the presentation. It all speaks from the heart. Other eateries should take a note or two from this establishment.
After beets and corn dumplings, we had the swordfish and chicken.. Both meats were of cooking perfection.. Literally the perfect cooked meat. The chicken was undoubtedly one of the best I've actually ever had. Cooked perfect, juicy in ways i can't describe, the swordfish was the same, succulent and flavorful..
The drinks are fantastic, the service is impeccable, the root quality is through the roof, all local, etc.
People must understand that this is fine dining and not anything else.. Concise menu ensures quality and freshness. I'd rather have a shorter menu that coincidences with the seasons. Than a typical menu that might not have all produce in season to make it perfect.. If i had children, i would give this place the respect it deserves and leave them...
