If you want a restaurant that knows how to treat vegetables well, come here. As first glance, there is not a lot on the menu for us vegans, but the kitchen is accommodating and the staff helpful in discerning which dishes can be easily veganized. The tacos are always amazing. The soup, when vegan, steals the show. The salads are creative and fresh. The bread is not vegan (contains honey). Drinks are usually good. And often there is a dessert or part of a dessert if you want a sweet treat... the guava sorbet is amazing. We prefer to sit at the communal dining table outside in the back... the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. When they put the lights on, nestled among the strands of grape vines, it's beautiful. There is also some casual bar seating, and of course plenty of tables in the dining room area. Some evenings can be crowded, but we usually don't have a problem without a reservation.

Had the brussel sprout taco appetizer. Was tasty, it was a little bit overpriced for what you get. I likely would try something different next time. I had the burger and ordered it medium rare. Was definitely rare in the middle, I don't mind it too much so I just ate it and it tasted good. Someone sensitive to internal temp may want to confirm this when ordering. Bacon on burger was ok, so thin and crispy didn't add much flavor, overall burger was good. Fries were delicious, they had good flavor without dousing them in the oil which was great as I don't do ketchup. Wife had farmer's plate and enjoyed it. She usually skips the home fries style potatoes but enjoyed these which is rare and says a lot about their ability to add flavor without smothering it with a sauce or something else. Overall it was a good first impression.

We had an incredible experience. The service was exceptional — shoutout to the waiter with the fun light-blue apron! He knows his stuff and all of his recommendations were spectacular. We had the striped bass, which was delicate and had nice depth in taste; the popovers were fresh, crispy, and light; and our strawberry shortcake had the right balance of sweetness from the cake, a light hint of mint, and the fruity/tartness of the berries. It was a beautiful dinner. The restaurant pays attention to the details of every dish and it shows! My mother came to visit and celebrate me/my partner’s one year in Boston… Farmstead was the highlight of our night.

If there were an option for zero stars I would have rated this restaurant zero stars, twice. I would never recommend going to Farmstead Table.

My dinner experience started with a reservation, being seated immediately, and then waiting 10 minutes before I could even order a bottle of wine and apps, which took an additional 15+ minutes to arrive to table.

Once the $60 bottle of wine arrived, the waiter said “I hope you don’t mind sharing a wine glass as we only have one wine glass left.” We literally had to ask them for any other sort of container of liquid so we could drink our bottle together. They brought out a champagne glass. Fast forward 55 minutes from the time we were seated and we finally got that second wine glass!

Apps came out, and they were just as bad as the wine glass experience. The bread is essentially two pieces of wheat sandwich bread. The mushroom toast is a piece of Texas toast with cheese whiz and lightly sautéed mushrooms.

We’re 0/3 to this point… Some would would say three strikes and you’re out…

However, we decided to stick it out for entrees. They were good, but not redeemable for the extreme lackluster experience to this point.

The steak was cooked nicely, but shouldn’t that be expected for a 10 oz cut at $35? The clam spaghetti was average and overall very light on taste.

$150 for a very subpar dinner and terrible experience. Would I go...

Great food! The chef definitely deserves a raise!!!

Farmstead Table in Newton, MA, is an absolute gem for anyone who loves farm-to-table dining. The restaurant has a warm, cozy atmosphere that feels inviting from the moment you walk in. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall experience. The menu changes seasonally, which reflects their commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and it shows in every bite.

The dishes are thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. One of my favorites was the roasted chicken—perfectly cooked with a crisp skin and tender, juicy meat, paired with seasonal vegetables that tasted like they came straight from the farm. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, making each dish stand out on its own. I also recommend their handmade pastas, which are rich and flavorful without being overly heavy.

The service is excellent, with staff that’s knowledgeable about the menu and eager to share recommendations. The drink menu offers a nice selection of wines and craft cocktails that complement the meals well. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size, making it a great spot for a special night out or a casual meal. I highly recommend Farmstead Table for anyone looking for a fresh, flavorful...

This was a fantastic restaurant, This is the definition of a restaurant.. The atmosphere, the quality, the presentation. It all speaks from the heart. Other eateries should take a note or two from this establishment.

After beets and corn dumplings, we had the swordfish and chicken.. Both meats were of cooking perfection.. Literally the perfect cooked meat. The chicken was undoubtedly one of the best I've actually ever had. Cooked perfect, juicy in ways i can't describe, the swordfish was the same, succulent and flavorful..

The drinks are fantastic, the service is impeccable, the root quality is through the roof, all local, etc.

People must understand that this is fine dining and not anything else.. Concise menu ensures quality and freshness. I'd rather have a shorter menu that coincidences with the seasons. Than a typical menu that might not have all produce in season to make it perfect.. If i had children, i would give this place the respect it deserves and leave them...
