We were out-of-towners looking for a place to eat some great pizza. Landshark was near the top of a few lists, so we opted for it over a few other highly rated restaurants. We entered to a sign that instructed us to wait to be seated. So, we waited...
...and waited...
... and waited...
I'm not sure what the purpose of the area is, but behind the host stand, there is a counter from which you can see into the kitchen. The entire time we waited to be greeted there were three employees standing behind that counter, seemingly unaware - actually, make that unconcerned- with my family's existence on this planet and inside the business that provides their paychecks.
Finally, the bartended asked us if we had been greeted yet. We answered no, and she apologized and said someone would be right with us. That bartender was the only bright spot of our experience. She seemed genuinely concerned that we had been standing there for so long.
We waited another few minutes, the employees behind the counter continued talking and giggling to themselves, and we were never acknowledged by another person. I led my family back out the doors and we continued our journey for pizza, and luckily found that a nice place called Island Time deemed us worthy of their efforts.
I'll end by saying that I know it's Summer, and it's 4th of July week. It's busy everywhere, so I expected to wait, no matter where we chose to eat. However, to not be acknowledged, but rather flat out ignored by employees who were seemingly doing nothing is frustrating. There were a few empty tables in Landshark, so I know they weren't busy preparing a place for us to sit, but even if they were, it would be nice to be informed.
When it comes to restaurants, nothing loses my respect faster than a place with apathetic employees who don't appear to care that you're in their establishment. It was disappointing, because it smelled really good in there. Unfortunately, I'll never know how it tastes, because I have no interest in returning if they don't want or need my business.
Maybe I should be grateful. Sometimes, having a plethora of choices makes it hard to decide where to spend my money. When places eliminate themselves from consideration, it only makes my...
Read moreTLDR: Good food; bad service.
I wanted to like this place, but now I don't. I went by on a Friday at lunch and got a sandwich at the bar to go. It was okay and I may have gotten it again. Service was a little slow but professional.
Went again at lunch on the following Wednesday with my usual lunch group of 6-8. Two of us happened to order the same pizza. They only made one, so the server let me know that mine would be ready as soon as possible. I commented that if they wanted to keep my loyalty as a customer, they should consider doing something to make up for the problem. The server said she would ask.
The pizza came (45 minutes after ordering). It was really very good. When the check came, I looked at it and was not given any sort of discount (I didn't expect to get it for free, but there are plenty of things a business can do: a discount, a free dessert, etc.). She didn't even say anything about my request (such as "I'm sorry, I looked into it and there is nothing we can do"). She just put the bill in front of me. I said "that is disappointing" and the server snapped at me for being rude to her. I said I was not rude, I had simply asked about a discount and she again insisted that I was rude. I'm sure we both disagree on how the course of the conversation went, but I have 6 customers who agreed that I was not rude; the server was. I certainly did not mean to be rude. My words were not, but my tone of voice probably was.
So I won't be going back. Pity. I was looking forward to trying out The Cellar. But I won't spend my money at a place that values customer service so low, both at the server level and at the...
Read moreVery bad experience. The worst customers service, I ordered a glass of water with lemon, 30 minutes later I remembered to the waiter again and the guy said "I'll see what can I Do, later 20 minutes more, the guy brought on his hand two pieces of lemon, I said I'll never take this lemons for my glass of water!! He said "my hands are cleaned". It's not the first time this happened to me in this restaurant, I realized that they don't like to serve lemons for any reason (water, drinks, food, etc), they don't show up!!. What about order a chicken wings with celery and carrots? Believe me, my husband and me have never got a fresh ones, very dirty, old, dry celery and carrots, any human can eat something like that you'll go to the hospital!!! I told the waiter to bring a fresh ones and rinse, she said "all of them look the same". She brought a new order and it was the same nasty celery and carrots, look like somebody picked it up from the trash!!! It's better you don't ask for lemons, celery and carrots, they are mad and, careful they can put something else in your food!!! I'd like to add it's a very dirty place to eat, NO BODY take care of the cleaning, tables always dirty, you have to beg someone to clean your table and chairs to be able to sit and place your order; restrooms same story. I don't understand how is possible the Health Department lets this kind of restaurant open, HAVE TO BE CLOSED INDEFINITELY!!! And NO give them again a Permit to operate again. The guy in the video is the waiter who served my table and brought the lemons...
