The menu is a carnivore's dream. I started with the brisket, which was tender, juicy, and had a perfect balance of smoky flavor and spices. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, coated in a tangy, house-made barbecue sauce that complemented the meat without overpowering it. The pulled pork was equally impressive, offering a delightful mix of savory and slightly sweet notes.
Sides at Papa's Smokehouse are not an afterthought. The mac and cheese is creamy and decadent, a perfect pairing with the rich meats. The coleslaw is crisp and refreshing, providing a nice contrast to the hearty barbecue. Don't miss the baked beans; they are packed with flavor and have a delightful smoky undertone.
Service at Papa's Smokehouse is top-notch. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to make recommendations. They clearly take pride in the food they serve and the experience they provide. The atmosphere is casual and cozy, making it a great spot for a laid-back meal with family and friends.

The star of the show at Papa's Smokehouse Barbecue is undoubtedly their smoked meats – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Each bite is a testament to the skill and dedication of the pitmasters, who painstakingly craft each dish to perfection.
While the prices at Papa's Smokehouse Barbecue may lean towards the higher end, and the portion sizes may be considered average, the quality of the food more than justifies the cost. Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone seeking an unforgettable barbecue experience.

Read moreLived in and around Houston for decades. Traveled almost every corner of Texas. Bar BQ (bbq) has been a big thing. If asked, I'd be hard pressed to find bbq as good as this in all of Texas or any of my memories of bbq's past. Certainly some of the best I've had in my 58 years. I MIGHT have had bbq as good while at the bbq cook-offs in the Houston Rodeo and Livestock show (sorry, Mike, but this was even better than yours). It's that good.
In general, and on principle, I can't stand banana pudding. Think it's very chemical-ee tasting with a sickly "twang" at the end. Until i tasted Papa's. I order an extra helping for a treat for some random late night sleeplessness.
My advice - show up hungry.
You don't have to agree with me about this review. Most times, I'd say you're smart to disagree with me. It's commonly understood that I AM disagreeable. But not this time. If you do, well, you're just wrong. I stake my reputation on the caliber of this bbq.
The $30 sampler platter was more food than two big boys could put down, and every bit of it was tasty. If they keep this quality up, they will quickly need a second location.
