This is the worst experience I have ever had at a Korean restaurant in the States. I have been to a number of different plaxes, but this is the worst experience I've had. This restaurant is a prime example of why Korean restaurants get a bad reputation here. Rude service that borders on discriminatory, along with being a ripoff. For context, I am half Korean and grew up going to Korean restaurants with my mom. Of course they treat you differently if you're there with a Korean or if not. But this was too much. My wife ordered a bibim naengmyung. The resulting dish was barely cut(we were told precut) and when we asked for mustard and vinegar it was refused. Eventually when we told the waitress it needs to be cut more, she with a huff gave us the laziest 3 cuts with the worst kind of attitude. Then immediately went off smiling as the next table gave a cheogiyo. My kimchibokumbap was 14 dollars and had nothing but kimchi, rice, a fried egg, and green onion. In what world do you get away with charging this much for so little? This place has outrageously bad service with ripoffs. I try to visit small family owned Korean restaurants as a way of supporting the community. I sincerely hope this place either fires this waitress or changes their ways. There is no place for such a poor representative of my country. I will never come back to this restaurant. It's a...
Read moreSmall and quaint mom and pop store. We came in at 1:30, so it was an off hour and the staff was all having their lunch. Felt a little bad, but they were very accommodating and didn’t make us feel out of place.
Our server was having her meal but still checked on us periodically to make sure we had enough banchan refills and we felt well taken care of.
Hubby and I each had a bowl of goat soup. We usually get something different and share… but their goat dish is their specialty! We didn’t do the bokkeum, which comes in a pan and is cooked on the table. It would’ve been a more fuller, complete meal, with fried rice at the end… but we weren’t overly hungry and I don’t eat rice anymore (keto).
Anyway, the soup was right on the money. Very, very good.
The banchan was also very good - not overly flavorful, but just enough to be complementary to the meal, which is how it should be, and how we make it at home. Portions are on the smaller side, but I still had leftovers of my dish to take home, despite not having touched the rice bowl. Small portions of banchan is fine, since they’ll keep coming back to refill it for you.
I was very pleased with the meal and plan on coming back to try their eel soup, which I’ve been told is...
Read moreThis is a pretty typical family style mom and pop’s place. No BBQ, just homemade meals. In Korea this is a dime a dozen around every corner. We normally visit the place down the road but it is closed today and we had to get some Korean fix, so here we are. The place is clean and similar to other Korean places, the cooking odor is pretty strong because of all of the spices and such so don’t wear anything you are not planning on washing after. The food quality and qty are ok, nothing impressive and nothing memorable, but it is good for family style restaurants. Most of the people coming through are long time patrons anyway. The prices are reasonable mostly for the area but only if know how much the same dish would cost back home, you wouldn’t feel the same. One thing I don’t like about this place is that they charge for the take home containers. Seriously, if they charge below market value I can understand that every dime and nickel matters to the bottom line, but they are not. The food in my photos cost me over $60, plus tip for two people. $1.00 for each take home container ? That is just wrong. So if you are going there, bring your own Tupperware if you think you will...
