Literally just finished eating and drinking there. Completely unbiased review by a random Filipino male who happened to pass by it after going to the gym. Context - Iâve also tried Matari, Qawah, and Haraz. Qawah and Matari were my favorite, until this. I got the Chicken Shawarma Rice Plate and the Irani Chai. Partial reason as to why this became my favorite; they sell hot foods.
First off, atmosphere: Super cozy, super comfy, super cute little place. Itâs a small business on Dempster street and something most people would usually just pass by, but the inside is warm and inviting. Feels like a coffee shop vibe.
Second off, drinks: I got the Irani Chai. Very similar to Adeni Chai in my opinion. They donât normally do iced chai, but they made an exception. It was amazing. They even had me wait for my drink before I paid in case I didnât like it. Donât expect that, but goes to show how customer facing they are especially for things they havenât normally done yet. Cherry on top was that 8 ounces was only $3. Where can you find $3 coffee/tea nowadays?
Third, food: I donât mean to be ignorant, but it briefly reminded me of Pita Inn. I know itâs not the same cuisine, but similar. I got the Chicken Shawarma Rice Plate. I will say, when I was eating it, all I could do is compare it to Pita Inn, and this was so much better than anything Iâve gotten at Pita Inn. The rice was not dry as most basmati rice is, and their sauces are so much better. Itâs like the Chik-Fil-A sauce of Basmati Rice Plates (if you like Chik-Fil-A), but with a bit of a spicy kick, while Pita Inn is Burger King mustard. đ Get extra sauces. The portion was also super generous for $10.
Lastly, service: The cashier I worked with was super nice. Gave immediate attention and was super welcoming and helpful. Knew the menu. The food came quick and was within 5 minutes of me ordering; if you canât wait for that long, Iâll see you at the McDonaldâs drive-thru. When they asked me to give a review, it wasnât overbearing and they requested so kindly and modestly. They continued to ask me if I liked it and you can see their eyes lit up when I told them I liked it.
Donât even just support them because theyâre a small business; try the food and drinks and it wonât matter what they are. I loved it. Thank you, Al...
Read moreToday was my fourth visit to this place, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst chai experience Iâve ever had. I specifically asked for Adeni Tea, but they served me Irani Tea instead. When I mentioned that it wasnât Adeni, the staff insisted it was. I know the clear difference between Adeni and Irani Tea, but the person serving didnât seem to care and returned with the same dismissive attitude, insisting it was Adeni. The tea was $3, maybe worth $1 at best, but more importantlyâyouâve lost the business of me and my family. A little courtesy and honesty go a long way. If you truly value your customers, I hope you take this feedback...
