We all know you can't have cheap, fast, AND good, but delicious and fresh sushi, affordable prices, and quick service make Dempster Fish Market a trifecta of impossible goodness. I've come here for lunch around 10 times now, and everything I've had has been delicious and fresh. The lady who seems to run the place is always very friendly, and I've never had any issues ordering or carrying a light and pleasant conversation, despite English clearly being a second language to her. If you can come here for lunch, I highly recommend lunch specials H or G as they both contain an assortment (6 or 10 pieces) of fresh sushi, and with G (6), you also get a california roll. Both are a healthy lunch that perfectly hit the spot of substantial enough to be a full lunch while not stuffing you to a sleepy 2pm slump. If you're feeling a little bit more, grab a bowl of self-serve miso soup for under $2. There has never been a wait any time I've come, and a lunch special typically ranges $6-$8 (both G and H are $7.50), so the place is also a great bargain. I highly recommend Dempster Fish Market, and will be returning many times in the future and likely ordering their hugely popular party trays for some event I host...
Read moreI used to really enjoy this place but the reviews are correct. The management is extremely rude, they're not welcoming at all. A couple days ago, I ordered sushi and my bill came out to be $26 and I only had a $100 bill with me which I gave him. He counted the money and gave it. I then came back to my car and counted just to be sure and was missing $11 from my change he gave back. Upon entering the restaurant again, it’s like he knew exactly why I was coming back in. When I told him he owes me $11, he pretended to look at his screen for my order for like half a second and gave me the money. I’m not complaining that I got my money back it’s the fact that it didn’t seem like it was the first time he did this. Make sure to count your change because it really seems like he’s skimming some off the top for his benefit. Idk if I’ll be back, I hate people who...
Read moreThis is a small hole in the wall-ish counter serve sushi restaurant with really good lunch specials. The food quality is decent, I would say about average. The service is straightforward and average as well.
I got the Hwe Dup Bap, which is assorted sashimi over rice and vegetables seasoned with a gochujang-like sauce and sesame oil. The price ($12 pre-tax) was really good compared to other places I've seen and had this dish, which are usually around $20. The cuts of fish were pretty small and thin, so I'd definitely only get this dish during the lunch special.
I've also tried their sashimi platter, where the fish was good but also very thin.
Overall I'd recommend this place if you're craving sushi and want something on the more affordable end, especially during lunch. I would probably not come in any...
