My son and I visited A&W, a local favorite of ours during the summer months. Unfortunately, this will likely be our last visit. While the food was enjoyable, the service was severely lacking. Upon our arrival, the cashier was mopping the floor and proceeded to the register without washing her hands. She gave us a disdainful look when we entered. I greeted her, but she merely continued to stare. After placing our order, she returned to mopping, exhibiting the rudest behavior I have ever encountered. We ultimately decided to dispose of our full root beers, which I had paid for, as we were uncomfortable with the idea of her unwashed hands touching the ice, cups, and register. Read moreI am old school. I started working at an A&W 50 years ago. These comments are meant to be constructive criticism . I ordered a coney dog and a small root beer float. I was intending to eat inside, but he made my order to go. I looked at the other people eating inside, and their orders were made to go as well. What made A&W special was the glass mugs. Having a cold root beer in a mug was a special experience. Sad to see that this is a lost tradition. The glass mugs should be used whenever possible and only orders that are really to go should be served in paper cups. People should be asked if they want to eat in or if they want to take out. Chicken tenders tasted like frozen ones you get at a carnival stand. Burger was bland...not a good trip. Will give benefit of doubt and try one more time before writing it off being I am local.
