I went here with my boyfriend this past week. His name is Alexander and he used to go there with his grandfather when he was a boy. He took me because he had a lot of emotional attachment to the place and wanted to share it with me. He wishes he hadn't gone back so his memories weren't spoiled. When we walked in I thought the place was okay. It looked old and I assumed that the dirt I saw wasn't really dirt but simply the old appearance, after leaving I need to assume the place was really dirty. To start with, we sat at the counter next to the register, and the man working who was the "waiter" paid almost no mind to us(we were the ONLY 2 people in the whole place) until I gave him a look and my very tall(6 ft 4) boyfriend stood up, he then asked if we were getting anything and my boyfriend walked to the ice cream area to decide what he wanted. When it came time to be rung up for the ice cream I handed my card to the man to pay for the ice cream, I noticed instantly there wasn't even tax listed(I usually tip 3x tax), but I figured since I wasn't going to tip for ice cream it was no big deal. I had a stressful day and had stopped smoking cigarettes earlier that day, and although I'm not addicted(no problem not having one) I would've liked one to ease the stress, I decided instead to fill the void with food since my boyfriend seemed to enjoy his ice cream. The "waiter" never came back to check on us, even though we were sitting right there. I had to call for him to order food. I ordered a bbq bacon cheeseburger, hot dog, sodas, and a milkshake. While I was eating I turned my burger to take a bite from the other side and there was a small spot(really quite tiny) that was COMPLETELY raw. So small and positioned so odd, my boyfriend and I laughed and figured that it was a mistake(which I'm still sure it was, but careless mistake after careless mistake makes a big difference in the service industry). As I ate I watched the "waiter" serve other customers and halfway through my burger I stopped eating. I watched as the "waiter" who was sick cough into both hands, then pick up a napkin in one hand, and shove the other hand which had no napkin, nor glove, and was just coughed on into the jar where they keep the ice cream cones and pull a cone out. At that point I told my boyfriend not to take another sip of our milkshake(which was really not all that incredible) and at that point asked the waiter(whose attention I got only because he was ringing up another customer) to give me our check, which doesn't list what was purchased, or tax, just a spot to give a tip, and the total. The food was simply okay, nothing spectacular. I work in a Subway Cafe. I have to be a bakers assistant, sandwich artist, and starbucks barista in order to work there. I know how food is supposed to be handled, especially when you have customers watching your every move, I know how customer service should be(I even carry sandwiches and coffee out to people sitting in the dining area and we all know that subway isn't a full service restaurant). I shudder to think what goes on in the back when they won't even wash their hands out front. The biggest problem is there seems to be no manager present, just 2 kids working there at a time. I am recently 18(a few days) and Subway is my first job(3 months in) but I have already been promoted because I know how things should be run, presented, and handled. The restaurant could probably be wonderful if there was any kind of boss present, but until I hear that this place is under new management or a supervisor of some kind is in the shop at all times, I won't be going back. Everything is just...
Read moreMy family and I came into Alexander’s for a special birthday celebration. The first issue we had was that the waitress was irritated that we were not ready to order our food within two minutes of sitting down. When we asked for a moment to look at the menu, she just walked off shaking her head. Once we were able to order, my boyfriend’s brother got a Reuben sandwich. A few minutes later, the waitress came back and informed him that they were out of sauerkraut. He stated that he would still like the sandwich but requested a side of coleslaw in addition to his fries since the sandwich didn’t have sauerkraut. About 15 or so minutes later we got 4/5 of the meals ordered. The Reuben sandwich was still missing. About 10 minutes later, I needed to use the restroom. Since the restroom was right next to the kitchen, I was able to see/hear the cook doing his own thing. I realized that he wasn’t preparing the Reuben but didn’t initially think anything of it. About 7 or so minutes later, he took the Reuben out of a cooking area and set it on the counter. He proceeded to drop half of the sandwich on the ground. At this point the waitress came into the kitchen and she and the cook were laughing about how they had both forgotten about the Reuben and she apparently only thought to come check the status of the food after my family mentioned that it was still missing. By the time I got back to the table, the waitress came out and let my boyfriends brother know the cook needed to remake the sandwich. About 7ish minutes later the Reuben arrived without any coleslaw and did not look appetizing. My brothers boyfriend asked for the coleslaw and was met by quite a bit of attitude by the waitress as she walked off. After waiting for probably 5 minutes, he was over it and decided not to eat the meal. He requested the waitress remove the sandwich from the tab. She did not state anything and just walked away shaking her head again. Later on, a manager asked if everything was ok. I let him know that we had not had the best experience with the sandwich, all five waters sat empty with no refills offered, there were no napkins on the table and we sat there for 15 minutes after everyone was finished just waiting for the bill. It was not the best experience that we had hoped for the...
Read moreWe had the worst customer service tonight than we have ever had there. While sitting at the booth eating our ice cream one of the boys working there yelled out very loudly at 8 minutes till 9 that they were closing at 9. Then at 9, another boy went around to each table individually and told us all that we would have to leave because they closed at 9. When he was at our table, I asked him if he was actually kicking us all out because there were several people sitting and eating. He said yes we are closing now. There were probably 12 - 14 angry people outside the front door finishing their food while standing on the sidewalk. I was the last one to walk out and one man tried to open the door immediately after I came out to throw away his trash into the trashcan right inside the doorway. He only got the door partially open and the boy inside walked up, grabbed the door and pulled it shut out of the man's hand and locked it. Another man said he was standing at the register because he had just ordered when one of the boys came up to him and asked him if he was leaving because he had to because they were now closed. The man told him he still had to pay and he was waiting on his shake because it was in the process of being made. I have never seen a restaurant kick someone out while sitting at the table eating food that was bought from that restaurant. Also, while ordering we have for many years bought the waffle cone and they will split up the scoop into 2 different flavors. Tonight, they let one person in our party do exactly that but then when I ordered doing the same thing they said no that wasn't allowed you can only...
