We had dinner here last Friday night. As always, the food was excellent. However, the staff are so obviously overwhelmed and overworked. Please have more servers working during the dinner rush! We've been coming here for years, and have never seen more than 2 servers, even when all ~18 tables are busy. Most of my review is negative, but understand that if you make allowances for the service, the food is fabulous. And it's not that the servers aren't trying - they are clearly working their asses off, they just can't possibly keep up with so many people.
Since we knew this would be the case, we knew to order our food along with drinks at the first opportunity. Unfortunately we didn't think to order "and water" along with my glass of wine and his beer. It would've been nice to have water automatically brought to us, or at least offered. Speaking of beer, he enjoyed the Asian beer (Asahi, I think?), but it would have been nice to get a glass to drink it from, rather than directly from the 22 oz bottle. Once I finished my wine, he used that to drink the rest of the beer. I was never offered more wine, or a glass of water.
Hubby ordered an appetizer, which we never got. Not a big loss, but I was curious to see the steamed dumplings.
For the entrees, I had the red curry, and hubby had the chili chicken. Both were wonderful. However the menu clearly says that the red curry comes "with noodles or rice," so I ordered it "with rice, please." It came with noodles mixed in the dish, and a side of rice. ?? I'd also asked for "tofu instead of chicken," and while I'm happy to report they did leave off the chicken, I didn't get the tofu. ...Actually that's not quite true - there was 1 piece of stray tofu in the bottom. I know from previous visits that you normally get lots of tofu, so this was another mistake.
If you can overlook these little problems - or if you can come outside of the busy peak hours at lunch or dinner, I highly recommend...
Read moreI am incredibly disappointed in Asian Grill. While food wise it is my favorite restaurant and I have been there/ordered from them at least 20 times, the service is absolutely horrible and I am fed up. There website has not consistently worked for the last two years at the very least, which makes the promo codes and coupons that they send me completely useless. I've also told them every time I've ordered that there is an issue with their website. It will work until you confirm the order and then says that there is an error and to call. That wouldn't bother me if they would take the coupons when I call, but they say that they are only for online even though they are clearly having technological issues. They claim that certain dishes are gluten free yet I am gluten intolerant, and I got incredibly sick once. When I called they said "there might have been a mix-up" but since the food was already consumed there was nothing they could do about it. They did not even offer an apology let alone a refund. I would say 4 out of every 5 times I've ordered takeout, they have messed it up from completely forgetting some of the dishes we ordered, giving us the wrong order to giving someone else our order and having to wait another 45 minutes to get our food and even then the order was not correct. I love the food but someone really needs to start working their...
Read moreReceived a coupon for AG Asian Grill in the newspaper. 10$ off purchase over 35$. Having not tried the restaurant before and having a coupon we decided to try it. We ordered a 6$ appetizer, 2 13$ entrees and a couple of beers. We ate our appetizer and entrees which were pretty good. At the end we asked for our check which came out to $47 and change. We presented our coupon and the waitress went to cash us out. She returned to tell us we could not use our coupon because we spent $34.10 in food and that drinks were not included. This upset me because I told the waitress about the coupon before eating, she did not share this little fact with us at that time. It's also frustrating that eating 2 full meals WITH an appetizer STILL didn't bring us to the amount needed to use the coupon.... Forget that we also bought drinks and spent $60 + with tip. The entire experience left me frustrated. Why offer a coupon you can't use if you're eating as a couple? We did not eat cheap and in the end were 90 cents away from being allowed to use the coupon. I'm not sure that I will be returning for dinner...
