I took my son here because somebody told me that they do pokemon trading on Sundays. To be fair, I didn't do any research, just showed up. Was hoping my 7 year old could trade, and maybe I'd buy him a pack of cards. We got to the location and followed the crowd back to a room where a bunch of people had pokemon cards out, adults, teens, and kids. I never interacted with staff as there was no immediate need. There was no signage or anything, but I figured this was the place and told my son to talk to some kids.
Anyway, he walks up to a group of 2 kids (maybe 2 or 3 years older) and an adult in a corner table and starts to strike up conversation.
Before he could get a word out, the adult, a smug looking guy with a short haircut, interrupts and says half to me and half to my son (not making eye contact with either of us) "hey guys there's a tournament here, go back in that back room and maybe some people are trading". Taken aback, I reply and tell him that we'd never been here, and I asked him to point me in the direction. He points to a door. I ask back (sensing hostility now), "Where do I go when I go out the door? "You'll see it."
So I get up and walk my son to the next room, and there are 3 people at 3 tables setting up for the tourney, and no kids.
I turn back, confused, and go back to the room. Instead, I find a different group of kids with one guy, and tell my now apprehensive son to give it a shot. The dad and two kids looked at my son like he had leprosy and ignored him when he asked about his cards. Just because I was curious, I then took my kid to the store area to browse cuz I didn't want to be around these people anymore, and I wanted to see when the tournament started. We got to the location at around 145 and the tourney started at 2. So clearly not the most welcoming place around if they still had 15+ minutes till these grown adults played in their kids card game tournament
My review here has nothing to do with the service or the shop or the location, but solely based on the community and clientele present. Honestly, the store seems pretty neat and cool and niche. But, it's clear that some of the active members present when we showed up have a bit of an elitist streak. This place seems like a place for hardcore enthusiasts to frequent and hang out. So unless you want to become involved with an in-person equivalent of the league of legends community (thats a joke, essentially this place is full of toxic weirdos), then find a different game shop or go to target for your kids basic gaming needs. Personally, I don't want my kids to grow up and associate with the people I saw during my...
Read moreI've been a customer at Moonshot for several months now, and have always been incredibly satisfied with their service. The majority of my purchases at the store are for the game Marvel Champions, and every employee I have interacted with has been incredibly helpful with both pre-orders and pickups, and even in providing information if I miss an expansion.
In addition to just being incredibly helpful, each member of the staff is very knowledgeable about all the games they stock in the store, and can give great advice based on your wants and needs as a gamer, whether you're shopping for a group of hardcore enthusiasts or a niece's Christmas gift.
Beyond the service, the store also excels at the incidentals of business management. The store is well-organized and clean, bright and inviting. The shelves are well-stocked with a variety of games, activities, and accessories for any sort of analog game. If the store doesn't stock it, they'll order it for you, or at the very least do their best to give you a time-table of when it will be in stock again. They've also hosted many different gaming events in the past, creating an inviting and exciting atmosphere that creates a sense of comfort for any member of the community to come in, even if they're skeptical of the gaming scene. During the pandemic, they've gone to great lengths to make sure their customers feel safe both in store, and by providing great opportunities to stay up-to-date with their favorite games even if they don't want to venture into a public space.
I've recommended it to everyone I know looking for any kind of game - even my own parents. They went in skeptical, but emerged confident in what they had purchased. Whether you're a DnD diehard or just looking for a fun game to play at a family reunion, this is the...
Read moreAmazing experience! A great store PACKED with games and a welcoming, and knowledgable staff. A true gem!
This was truly one of the best experiences I ever had in a game store. My wife and I stopped in for a few minutes as we were exploring Downtown Noblesville as we visited family.
We were literally going to be on a plane in a few hours, so we couldn't take anything big. We were just expected to look around and see if there would be something we might pick up closer to home.
The employee we talked to (I truly regret not making him repeat his name because he definitely deserves personal recognition) asked if we needed any help after we had looked around quietly for a few minutes (he did not bombard us as soon as we walked in, which was awesome). We told him we were just looking around, because we had to travel home and had limited space in our bag. He said well, if you are interested, these games are full board games that are designed to be small by a Japanese company, Oink Games. Then we threw him another curveball. We have a 5 year old son who we often play games with, so we would like something he could understand and play. This guy did it! We walked out with two games (both fit in our personal items) and felt informed and lucky we found such a gem of a store, not at all hard sold or regretting the purchase.
100% will return if we are in Noblesville again. Highly recommend, would give 6...
