Kabob King continues the tragic tradition of Pakistani restaurants in Atlanta. The Good: Naans, biriyani, the daily specials cooked in huge pots is good for pick-up and go. The waiters are very nice. A Pakistani restaurant must have awesome Nihari, Chapli Kabob and Karhai. They are acceptable in these items. The Bad: The atmosphere is the same as a small town zoo. When you walk you are instantly hit with an odor. The staff doesnt know. They have gone nose-blind. Not appetizing. The tables are sticky. Some lady is selling clothes in the restaurant. Who buys clothes that smell like biriyani? I am trying to eat in peace but there are people hawking cheap clothes over my head. Its a family run operation and guess what ... everybody is there. Mama, papa, uncle with mustache, cousins and inlaws. The whole neighborhood is loitering in the dining area. You feel like you are on a safari. A tall young guy is running the register. He is playing bad techno music. He is the only one enjoying it. When i go back to the register, another guy is helping himself to biriyani on a plate right from the big pot. Its unappetizing. I feel like i disturbed his dinner. He seems to feel the same way. He retruns a greasy reciept. An idle worker is looking outside of a curtain in the kitchen. I realize that i too am an exhibit in the zoo. My waiter is great. I give him a 15$ tip on my bill. He tells me the owners keep the tips. There is another owner aunty eating and screaming about her phone being lost. I hope she found it along with some fabreeze. I couldnt wait to get out for some fresh air. When will Atlanta get a good...
Read moreNot sure why this places is talked about so much in social media and people. I did not have a good first time experience at Kabab king at all.
Firstly, This place smells funky, like it had a very musty smell. There was no AC in 97 degrees Atlanta heat, so it likely this that made it smell funny. And it was somewhat uncomfortable due to this as well. One caveat is I went there right after covid lock downs were ending.
And then the food was just mediocre I mean I would literally just give them a five. It was not spicy as it should be and I got the basic stuff that you can't go wrong on in terms of taste (Haleem & Nahari). But yeah of taste was just okay. Also one item came out just barely warm. Nothing to write home about for sure.
Btw in the food department if they actually put more spices and not water down the food that would be great.
Some positive - their food portions which was decent size. Where a 3-4 grown men could eat off one order for the most part.
The icing on the cake. They took four people before me who cut in front of me desi style, not caring about anyone else when I was standing in line to pay.
I can't believe Desi's like this place. It's really not that all that and a bag of chips. Imho skip this place for a better experience elsewhere.
Kabob Hut is were I would go if you want great Desi food.
Update 7/21 - Still similar in taste which is okay. Also till no AC in hotter months of summer. One positive is their portions are decent. Like 3 grown men can comfortably eat...
Read moreIf I could give this place a zero I would. I arrived to find two of the employees sitting down on the phone, I ordered my food and after ordering I noticed they wasa plethora of flies swarming above and around the food on the buffet line. I looked at their food health score from previous and recent times, which showed a 46U, and 96A, and the current score was 87B. That made me more nervous!! I went to the back to go wash my hands and found a bucket of rice sitting right next to the bathroom door , Uncovered with a spoon sticking out of it,not seated on a heated element. I kept on hearing the beeping of a microwave, so I was convinced that they were heating up my food in the microwave instead of it coming from the heated source, like a stove. When one of the workers came back up to the front I asked for a refund, she asked me why when I told her she rolled her eyes and went to the back telling me that you asked somebody. When the other employee came back that ring me up asked why I want a refund I told her the reasons, because of the flies and he uncovered rice in the back. She stated that my rice and not come from the back. I told her to please just give me my money back she did so begrudgingly and rolled her eyes at me. If you don’t want to have the runs do not come...
