This is my second time here, forgot to check in and leave a review from last time. My first time here was when it was grand-opened time. The old place is closed (forgot exactly where but it was abound 10min away from HongKong market) and this new location is the same plaza as HongKong market. I think I ordered Pho when I first came here and to my memory, it didn't taste good. The Pho broth didn’t have much flavor in it. I also remembered they charged us when we ordered another veggie plate for our noodle soups. I think it wasn't fair because one veggie plate shared with 3-4 bowls of noodle soups. Didn't interested much in food.
Second time here (still wanted to try again) and this time they changed my expression.
Food - 5 stars this time. I ordered Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef with lemongrass noodle soup) and surprisingly, the broth is good. I like it. Better than other some other Viet restaurants (others were plain). Each one of us in my family ordered different stuff. My hubby ordered Bun Oc. They did their bun oc (snail vermicelli) a little different than at the other places - they thinly sliced their Oc (snails) instead put the whole small snails. We think they use the big kind of snails which taste much better. The broth of bun oc tasted good. My dad ordered Mi Quang and he said it was pretty good too.
As for the veggie plate for the noodle soup, Im so glad they give each one of us our own veggie this time - totally YAY for this. Hope they will keep doing like this.
Service/waitress is alright. Same as many other asian restaurants.
The ambiance is cleaned; doesn't look big or big space inside so the tables are a little bit close to each other. 4 stars.
I probably back to try other dishes if there is nowhere to eat when I stopped by at Hong Kong...
Read moreI am in Atlanta just for the week and I’ve had family and friends recommend this place and it was pretty good!
I got the pho ga which I’m thinking that is what they are known for and they definitely gave me the whole chicken in my bowl I was happy about that. Usually places only give you like 4/5 pieces and I got about 6/7 pieces! The broth was very flavorful and rich. I was very pleased with my dish.
My friend got the mi quang and the entree was also really good! The side banh Trang was a little stale assuming they did freshly make it but it was still overall really good! The broth was thicker than I’m used to but honestly I kind of liked the thickness of the broth.
My boyfriend got the Bun Rieu and he thought he was good! Honestly there hasn’t been a place where overall it’s super tasty or super bad and bland. There wasn’t anything special about it but would still recommend people to try it!
My other friend got the Banh Tam Bi and I’ve actually never heard of this dish before! It’s tapioca noodles and they prepare the greens like mint leaves and then add the meats and on the side they have coconut milk and nuoc nam (fish sauce) and you can add according to your taste whether you want it more sweet or more salty! I wasn’t able to try this dish because it has peanuts but I sure you can ask without peanuts!
The only reason why I didn’t give this place a 5 star rating because we ordered an avocado shake (sinh to Bo), rau ma (penny worth drink), and the banh beo (lil rice pancakes is the best way I can explain it). They were probably waiting on a truck to restock which they can’t help. Overall I really liked this place! I would honestly like everyone to try out...
Read moreExceptional. Firstly, the service upon our entrance until exit was A1. The ambiance was fun and comfortable with a tree ready for tet money and comedic posters throughout. I noticed a sign for billiards but I didn’t see although we sat near the entrance and it may also be from the old location.
Our server was very helpful, accommodating our requests promptly throughout our entire meal. To assure a vegetarian guest of the ingredients, he brought out the chef to deconstruct an entire dish, which provided all the assurance needed. “100 percent vegetarian”, in her words. You can tell that the staff is very happy and eager to assist which makes a world of difference over complacent or unhappy, unhelpful staff. Our waiter also provided bamboo shoots, part of a vegetarian special, free of charge on the side when asked if it was possible to add it to my soup. We even joked that when one of us dropped a chopstick he replaced it with two. Service truly was that good.
We all ordered Phos during this trip (special combo, chicken and vegetarian) and we all agreed that each of our dishes gave us what we were looking for, a heartwarming bowl of soup on a cold Atlanta night. Each bowl was loaded with meat or lotus root, mushroom, carrots and greens (for the vegetarians) swimming in smooth and flavorful broth. Again, A1.
It is also frequented by the local Vietnamese community as we witnessed. There’s plenty of parking and a nice banh mi shop next-door if you need that to go....
