TeaMia - Sugarcane Drinks, Smoothies & Milkteas — Restaurant in Norcross

I promised myself I would only use this Google account for positive reviews but I can't sit idly by and let other customers experience this, so here we are, my first negative review.

Two weeks ago, I came to TeaMia to try out the sugarcane juices. I'd ordered a large sugarcane juice with no ice and a medium durian sugarcane juice with light ice bc it sounded so interesting. The menu does not offer regular sugarcane juice without added flavor, but the woman working the counter was kind enough to oblige. The durian flavor tasted artificial, like extract or powder, which I didn't care for, but overall pleasant experience.

Today, I returned to try other drinks. I asked the cashier (different woman) for a regular sugarcane juice and she told me they don't have it... Okay. So I ordered passion fruit tea, large, light ice, and a pennywort sugarcane juice, large, no ice... (See photo attached) My $9 "large" sugarcane juice was half full. I asked the cashier if that was meant to be a large cup bc when I visited before, it was filled to the top. She said it was because I ordered no ice, to which I reiterated that last time I also ordered no ice. Then she spoke to the manager in the back and told me that if I want to make it full, they can charge me extra (but she did not state how much).

Considering it was 2:51 PM and I was their 4th order of the day, I think they're going to have to make considerable changes to keep business going. Just because a customer ordered a drink without ice, doesn't mean you can fill it HALF way and think that's acceptable. At the very least, the customer should be forewarned of this so-called policy against ice.

Size matters, and 5 inches are not...

I ordered a bubble and left to have it on go while driving. When I started sipping, it was impossible to get anything up the straw realizing there is a loom of pearls together. I tried very hard to break it apart with straw but they were glued. This is not what one expect of a bubble tea, the pearls should be free flowing and easily separatable if stuck together. We called the shop to notify them of the issue and were extremely rude and unaccommodating to our request to get a replacement drink next week. We could not return at that very moment as we had a meeting to attend to in a timely manner. They were extremely unprofessional and implied we were lying. We have had bubble tea from many places and have had pleasant experience but will never be returning to a place like this where products are subpar and customer service is...

Drinks here aren’t consistent in flavors. Some days the sugarcane drink tastes amazing and then some days, it tastes like they gave me a 3 days old drink. However, the main reason why I am leaving a review though is because on two separate occasions, I showed up, entered, and stood there for the longest time. Rang the bell 🛎️ provided on the counter and still no worker in sight. Very disappointing. The most recent time I visited was on a Sunday evening (yesterday) an hour before closing time. lol. Guess whoever was working there was done for...
