I usually never leave bad reviews but today I was extremely disappointed by the customer service by one of the older Vietnamese ladies that work there. I have been a regular here for years, ever since I was a kid. I always love the food here. I usually donât have an issue ordering at the Banh Mi station. Today, I ordered with an older woman wearing a black cap and an apron. I told her I wanted a Banh Mi chicken with no Pate, she interrupts me rudely and told me to speak Vietnamese. She gave me attitude and said âyou understand Vietnamese why canât you speak it?â She then tells me to repeat myself in Vietnamese. I said I only understand it and can only pronounce certain food names. I felt really uncomfortable with her attitude and at how much she was pushing me to speak the language fully for her. I was born here in America so if I could, I wouldâve ordered in Vietnamese fully. I was shocked by her attitude but still tried to be respectful to her. She wrote the order, didnât make eye contact with me at all, put the ticket on the counter, she didnât even hand it to me and just walked away from me. I work in customer service as well and I didnât understand why she was being so rude to me. I did not appreciate that behavior and you guys need to do better at this because I have seen you have American customers as well. Iâve ordered in English multiple times with other people and they treated me with respect every time. I donât understand why she needed to take out her anger on me. I would never force her to speak English, I would appreciate it if she didnât force her customers to speak Vietnamese just because I said the word Banh Mi doesnât mean I fully speak the language and it sure as hell doesnât give her the right to tell me what to do. I hope this doesnât happen to anyone else. This gives Vietnamese people a very negative and judgmental character. Donât set that example to your customers.
Review Edit Response:
Bobby- I have been going to VN Tofu for years like I said. I wouldnât mistake it for another Banh Mi place. I also have a receipt in my bank statement from VN Tofu today 04/09/2024. I looked at the woman for a few minutes and I remember her wearing black. Either a hat or maybe a black mask. She was a short older Vietnamese woman. I was still spoken rudely to and you didnât even try to apologize to me. Ask any of your employees who was taking orders at the Banh Mi station between 5-5:30PM. I am a short Asian woman I had short hair, dark navy blue hoodie sweater, grey sweatpants and circle lens glasses. I remember the cashier being a younger woman and a young man brought me my Banh Mi when it was finished. Your response makes it seem like iâm lying and iâm not happy about this. I want someone to take accountability because you can keep trying to tell me what you believe and what your store values are but it doesnât take away from the fact that I had a bad experience because of your employee. I couldnât even make this up. I will be calling the store tomorrow to speak to...
Read moreI never post reviews, EVER, especially bad reviews. However, this is unacceptable, especially since i even went back to try to correct what was wrong but was still told that everything was âcorrectâ. I even apologized for the misunderstanding! I went with my sister and boyfriend yesterday to buy Bahn Mi (8/21/2024) I only wanted to order 12 (Knowing that if you buy 5 you get 1 for free) So in total i was supposed to have 10 Bahn Mi with 2 extra for free. In the midst of me ordering I suppose the cashier (His name was Thach) asked me something along the lines of âDo you want 15 instead? to make it even to get 3 extraâ and unknowingly I said yes.. (I was already running around the store trying to make multiple orders and was not really even paying attention and i donât know why he didnât just give me what I ordered instead of trying to make extra sales.) Whatever, right? I got extra Bahn Mi, iâll eat it. NO. I still only received 12 Bahn Mi and a Bahn Duc Tom for 94.AND WHATEVER SO CENTS!! I PAID 95$$ FOR 12 BAHN MI AND A PLATE OF BAHN DUC TOM!! and what makes this even better is that you canât call their phone number because it doesnât accept calls, AT ANY TIME . đ The lady working was so nice and i guess didnât realize he charged me for 5 extra Bahn Mi. Highly disappointed, especially as a customer and as a Viet person. Plus, i live in South Carolina, I didnât think to check the bags until i got home so that was my fault.. but still if you sell someone something.. you should make sure they have EVERYTHING YOURE CHARGING THEM FOR. He already seemed upset that i was even there and buying stuff!
UPDATE: I checked in with my sister and youâre very wrong, you charged her $27.50 for another order of 5 Bahn Mi and Coconut Jelly and didnât even give her the free Bahn Mi that was supposed to be offered.
In total we had 4 separate orders: 1st order was 94.86$ (Supposed to be 15 Bahn Mi with 3 extra, WE ONLY GOT 12) 2nd order was 111.30$ (We got 30 Xoi) 3rd order was 9.54$ (2 xoi with lap xuong) then the 4th and final order was 27.50$ (Supposed to be 5 Bahn Mi with One extra, THAT WE DID NOT RECEIVE, with a coconut jelly)
so once again, BE AWARE AND MAKE SURE YOU GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY PAID FOR. Check your cameras again and you should see that she paid you IN CASH, which was a total seperate order. So no, you never gave and i never received my 5 extra Bahn Mi...

Upon entering VN Tofu, I was greeted by a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu was extensive, showcasing a variety of tofu-based dishes that cater to both vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
What sets VN Tofu apart is their selection of Vietnamese snacks. From crispy spring rolls to savory rice dishes, they have it all. Each snack was meticulously prepared, with attention to detail evident in every bite. There were also many other food selections wrapped up and ready to eat.
The highlight of my visit, however, was their banh mi sandwiches. These Vietnamese sandwiches were packed with flavor, featuring a combination of savory meats, fresh vegetables, and a spread of pâtÊ or mayo. The bread was perfectly toasted, adding a delightful crunch to each bite.
The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of food you receive.
