Manila Bread House — Restaurant in Norfolk

We have done a lot of business with Manila Bread over the last 4-5 years ... Joe and his workers has always gone on and above every time we have rolled in to town. Some times we stayed in town for 3 weeks and a couple times only a week. We went thru Norfolk 04/04/2015 we stop to load up with many products from the store and had some great fish cooked up .... his prices are reasonable. Its seems to me there is always something new to try and it has to be some of the best home made Filipino bread on the planet , Its made fresh every day you can even phone in a head of time for special orders . Its even better than over in PI getting it fresh each morning from the market... its huge and warm and very light and taste great ... Thank you Joe for doing a great job , gbu i would just like to also say , I've watch him deal with many different types of customers and he treats them all the same one customer at a time and I always enjoy standing back and watching him do it the " joe " way with a warm friendly greeting and a big smile , wish more business where like that ! so...

i wish i could give - star i usually don't do this type of thing and i'm sure they have good food. however I've never had the pleasure of trying it for my self. i made arrangements to pick up Pancit and Lumpia to celebrate my sons 30th birthday. i placed the order with the owner very nice man on the phone and gave me a awesome deal. i was all ready to go to. i received a text from them saying " store was closed since Thursday for health issue and will stay closed until Monday." i understand things happen they do all the time. it's unacceptable and most unprofessional to text a potential customer 8:35 pm hours before i was scheduled to pick it up. if the store was closed on Thursday there was ample time to at least call before Friday night and it should have not been sent via Text.. BEST pandesal in the 757, if not the entire east coast! I'm Filipino and my family has been loyally going to Manila Bread House ever since it opened in the 80s with the original owners. Whenever I have relatives coming into town - from New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Florida, Texas - they always bring home boxes of pandesal because it's better than the Filipino bakeries in their areas (even if there is a large filipino community there). I have since moved away from Norfolk, but every time I visit, I stock up and bring back dozens of pandesal because no other recipes compare. Joe and his family currently run the shop and they treat you like family. They even made my sister's wedding cake! Please support this wonderful Asian...
