Perfect stop after Norfolk Botanical Garden – a memorable lunch at Regino’s We stopped in for lunch at Regino’s right at noon after a lovely stroll through the nearby Norfolk Botanical Garden. It was the perfect location for a quick yet meaningful visit. It was our first time dining here, and we were warmly welcomed and quickly seated by the gracious host. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, filled with classic charm—family photos, local newspaper articles, and vintage details that reflect its deep roots in the community. We were celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday, and the staff made it feel special from the start. The menu featured authentic Italian fare. After a short wait, we enjoyed fresh seafood pasta and a delicious pizza served on a tall stand. The flavors were outstanding. Warm bread with complementary butter was brought to the table, and we shared a glass of Cabernet with our meal. To top it off, the restaurant surprised us with a beautiful platter of cannolis drizzled with chocolate sauce—a perfect birthday treat and a sweet ending to a memorable meal. Regino’s is a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

OMG!!!! Can’t believe I live nearby this GEM!!! I was craving pasta and did not feel like cooking. I decided to drop in. Immediately upon entering I could tell that this is a family restaurant where you could have a business meeting to inspire great conversation with colleagues. I was greeted immediately upon entering with a smile and a menu. I was drawn to the authentic brick oven ole Italian decor. The menu had me wanting to order everything! I decided to carry out the spaghetti and a bowl of minestrone soup. I fell in love with bar especially the wine selection. Yes they have a well stocked variety of chilled wine to add to your meal. I sat in my car to wait. 15 mins later staff were gracious and brought my food to my car. When I say I could not wait to get home and tear into my meal. OMG it was so much food. The spaghetti was piping hot, flavorful, and cheesy. I was stuffed so quickly. I ate off this plate 4 times because it was a colossal portion. The soup was lovely. You are crazy not to dine here! Forget Olive Garden! This is my new dive for pasta. Hurry. Go!

I've had so many folks tell me how good the pizza is at Regino's, so I finally got here! It's a casual, personable joint dishing up classic pizzas, hearty pasta dishes & other comfort foods. My greeting was warm and the server was vivacious, funny & knowledgeable. She explained the favorites, the portions, and how foods are made. She also described the pizza toppings perfectly so not to ruin crust "texture" with too many toppings (stick to 4 so your pizza doesn't become soggy & limp 😋) !!! Needless to say, the 16" with pepperoni, sausage, onions & mushrooms was PERFECTLY DELICIOUS! She brought some homemade ranch for a side dip. Oh, the table bread was soft & tasty served with SOFT butter!!! So Regino's pizza lived up to the hype and our server made the visit one I'll do again soon to try some of the dinner entrees. They serve liver & onions and while our server honestly shared "she don't eat liver...lol!" she did say it smells awesome when serving it topped with homemade gravy & onions, so that's all I needed to hear!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This place overall is amazing. My experience gives them a 4.8 out of 5. I gave them a 5star because they deserve the higher rating.

-We were welcomed and seated right away. -The restaurant itself was “outdated” to some in other reviews, but I loved that about this place. If everywhere was modern, the world would be boring. This place brought me back to my childhood and unlocked a childhood memory that I forgot existed. 💖 -Food is made to order, and the bread.. oh, the bread was amazing. I even got a side of marinara to dip the bread in. Yum! The food portions were appropriate to the amount you paid for. A small cheese pizza was $16, a small portion of pretty much any pasta started at $20, but for $5 more you could upgrade to a large which is A LOT of food, so prepare to take home left overs. Large portions are LARGE. So you could easily share a large between two people. Small portions I found to be a single person serving.. like a lunch portion, and not worth $20. But the large portions are fairly priced and worth paying around $25-$30 for the amount of food you get.

Here’s why they get a 4.8. -My son does not like red sauce, but there was no option for Alfredo on the kids menu. I asked the server if there was any way I could get him a kids portion of Alfredo without paying $20 for the adult small portion. She told me there is no kids size for the Alfredo and I would have to pay $20 if I wanted to get him that meal. I was extremely annoyed that my son couldn’t get pasta with Alfredo sauce on top, but whatever. The portion size received shouldn’t have been a $20 charge, $10 would’ve been more appropriate for that size. The small is a perfect lunch portion for an adult. It honestly was MUCH smaller than the large which someone else got at our table. I got a large Chicken Parm, but subbed the marinara with meat sauce. Well, I shouldn’t have done that. In MY opinion the meat sauce was overly salty. I couldn’t even eat the food. Again, paying $25. Is the meat sauce always so salty, I’m not sure, but on this particular day.. it was inedible. I even asked people at my table to try it and see if it was just me, and one of them immediately spit out the chicken that they tried and agreed that it was unbearable. I did not cause a fuss to the waitress about it because I’m not the type of person to do so. I do not like making a scene/ confrontation. Lastly, for the $$$ you pay and it being an Italian restaurant, traditionally you get a salad with your food. But here you don’t. Which is fine, and maybe that’s on me for “expecting” it. So if you want a salad, they start at $8.

I wish the waitress would’ve offered another solution to the Alfredo mishap for my son. Like even ordering the buttered noodles and paying for a side of Alfredo to put over top (I did not think about this until I had already placed the order.)

I hope you try this place! It’s adorable and the food is delicious. Perfect little spot for...

This place can be hit or miss. I hate to say something like that, but I've been there for lunch and for dinner. I've also recommended people to go there. I first went to Regino's when it was in Wards Corner many moons ago. I didn't go back until 2009. So that's a long time. When I'd gone back, there were many banners out front with, 'Best of... whatever in whatever year!' Impressed, I wasn't. We went in for dinner once and we'd get bread without asking. The kid would bring bread all the time. That was really great because the bread is awesome! I won't complain about that at all. The pizza's always been great. Steadily throughout the years from 2009, it hasn't been that great for me. When I tell people how great the pizza is and then let them try it, the people are disappointed. For the money you pay, you can find a better pizza. I'm only writing this review because I probably won't go back. I've had the meat pizza and the veggie pizza and they were both great pizzas. Recently, I'd had just a pizza with cheese and mushrooms and it wasn't that great. I don't know if it was because it was lunch time, but there weren't too many people in there. The pizza came out in a short amount of time. That's never happened. The service wasn't great either. Good luck getting bread! Different atmosphere between lunch and dinner. Here I am trying to impress a friend and he was not impressed. It made me open my eyes to this pizza and place. For the price of the pizza, I was hoping for fresh ingredients, not canned mushrooms. The owner was sitting in the booth behind us and couldn't explain why they used canned mushrooms. We had to ask for garlic and oregano because the pizza lacked a lot of flavor.

There are better pizzas out there. You just have to find them. Everybody has their local pizza that is good to them and probably only them. Everybody's tastes are different and might not be suitable for yours. It's up to you and your own opinion. I've been here several times and spent a lot of money to develop my own opinions.

Sorry, but I won't go back. Also, I won't recommend to anybody again, because I had so for the past 5 years. There's better food...

Let me first state, I was in the wrong (although there isn’t signage that I saw). This morning, while Reginos was closed, I parked in their parking lot. I missed the turn for Hangrys and turned into Reginos. We looked and didn’t see signage and it was 9 am and Reginos was closed and we would be gone long before they opened. 20 minutes into breakfast, someone claiming to be speaking on behalf of owner of Reginos stormed into Hangrys and yelled at the women working which customers car is that. I spoke up and said I apologize, we missed the turn and since Reginos is closed we parked there. One of the women said I spoke with the owner and thought it was ok when they are closed. He yelled that that wasn’t true. Meantime, my boyfriend stood up and took my keys to move the car. The man yelling again told the women it wasn’t allowed and stormed out. He exchanged words with my boyfriend as he was moving the car. This is such rude and disrespectful behavior. I get it , I parked in the wrong spot. Did you need to berate employees who had nothing to do with it? If a Reginos customer parked in Hangrys parking lot are they allowed to storm into your establishment, yelling and creating a scene, disturbing your dining room full of guests? I would be ashamed to have someone like this man representing my establishment.

PS EAT AT HANGRYS! Better service, amazing food and I didn’t see anyone associated with Hangrys yelling...
