This place overall is amazing. My experience gives them a 4.8 out of 5. I gave them a 5star because they deserve the higher rating.
-We were welcomed and seated right away. -The restaurant itself was âoutdatedâ to some in other reviews, but I loved that about this place. If everywhere was modern, the world would be boring. This place brought me back to my childhood and unlocked a childhood memory that I forgot existed. đ -Food is made to order, and the bread.. oh, the bread was amazing. I even got a side of marinara to dip the bread in. Yum! The food portions were appropriate to the amount you paid for. A small cheese pizza was $16, a small portion of pretty much any pasta started at $20, but for $5 more you could upgrade to a large which is A LOT of food, so prepare to take home left overs. Large portions are LARGE. So you could easily share a large between two people. Small portions I found to be a single person serving.. like a lunch portion, and not worth $20. But the large portions are fairly priced and worth paying around $25-$30 for the amount of food you get.
Hereâs why they get a 4.8. -My son does not like red sauce, but there was no option for Alfredo on the kids menu. I asked the server if there was any way I could get him a kids portion of Alfredo without paying $20 for the adult small portion. She told me there is no kids size for the Alfredo and I would have to pay $20 if I wanted to get him that meal. I was extremely annoyed that my son couldnât get pasta with Alfredo sauce on top, but whatever. The portion size received shouldnât have been a $20 charge, $10 wouldâve been more appropriate for that size. The small is a perfect lunch portion for an adult. It honestly was MUCH smaller than the large which someone else got at our table. I got a large Chicken Parm, but subbed the marinara with meat sauce. Well, I shouldnât have done that. In MY opinion the meat sauce was overly salty. I couldnât even eat the food. Again, paying $25. Is the meat sauce always so salty, Iâm not sure, but on this particular day.. it was inedible. I even asked people at my table to try it and see if it was just me, and one of them immediately spit out the chicken that they tried and agreed that it was unbearable. I did not cause a fuss to the waitress about it because Iâm not the type of person to do so. I do not like making a scene/ confrontation. Lastly, for the $$$ you pay and it being an Italian restaurant, traditionally you get a salad with your food. But here you donât. Which is fine, and maybe thatâs on me for âexpectingâ it. So if you want a salad, they start at $8.
I wish the waitress wouldâve offered another solution to the Alfredo mishap for my son. Like even ordering the buttered noodles and paying for a side of Alfredo to put over top (I did not think about this until I had already placed the order.)
I hope you try this place! Itâs adorable and the food is delicious. Perfect little spot for...
Read moreThis place can be hit or miss. I hate to say something like that, but I've been there for lunch and for dinner. I've also recommended people to go there. I first went to Regino's when it was in Wards Corner many moons ago. I didn't go back until 2009. So that's a long time. When I'd gone back, there were many banners out front with, 'Best of... whatever in whatever year!' Impressed, I wasn't. We went in for dinner once and we'd get bread without asking. The kid would bring bread all the time. That was really great because the bread is awesome! I won't complain about that at all. The pizza's always been great. Steadily throughout the years from 2009, it hasn't been that great for me. When I tell people how great the pizza is and then let them try it, the people are disappointed. For the money you pay, you can find a better pizza. I'm only writing this review because I probably won't go back. I've had the meat pizza and the veggie pizza and they were both great pizzas. Recently, I'd had just a pizza with cheese and mushrooms and it wasn't that great. I don't know if it was because it was lunch time, but there weren't too many people in there. The pizza came out in a short amount of time. That's never happened. The service wasn't great either. Good luck getting bread! Different atmosphere between lunch and dinner. Here I am trying to impress a friend and he was not impressed. It made me open my eyes to this pizza and place. For the price of the pizza, I was hoping for fresh ingredients, not canned mushrooms. The owner was sitting in the booth behind us and couldn't explain why they used canned mushrooms. We had to ask for garlic and oregano because the pizza lacked a lot of flavor.
There are better pizzas out there. You just have to find them. Everybody has their local pizza that is good to them and probably only them. Everybody's tastes are different and might not be suitable for yours. It's up to you and your own opinion. I've been here several times and spent a lot of money to develop my own opinions.
Sorry, but I won't go back. Also, I won't recommend to anybody again, because I had so for the past 5 years. There's better food...
Read moreLet me first state, I was in the wrong (although there isnât signage that I saw). This morning, while Reginos was closed, I parked in their parking lot. I missed the turn for Hangrys and turned into Reginos. We looked and didnât see signage and it was 9 am and Reginos was closed and we would be gone long before they opened. 20 minutes into breakfast, someone claiming to be speaking on behalf of owner of Reginos stormed into Hangrys and yelled at the women working which customers car is that. I spoke up and said I apologize, we missed the turn and since Reginos is closed we parked there. One of the women said I spoke with the owner and thought it was ok when they are closed. He yelled that that wasnât true. Meantime, my boyfriend stood up and took my keys to move the car. The man yelling again told the women it wasnât allowed and stormed out. He exchanged words with my boyfriend as he was moving the car. This is such rude and disrespectful behavior. I get it , I parked in the wrong spot. Did you need to berate employees who had nothing to do with it? If a Reginos customer parked in Hangrys parking lot are they allowed to storm into your establishment, yelling and creating a scene, disturbing your dining room full of guests? I would be ashamed to have someone like this man representing my establishment.
PS EAT AT HANGRYS! Better service, amazing food and I didnât see anyone associated with Hangrys yelling...
