Los Potrillos — Restaurant in Normal

Terrible service. I go here all of the time and a couple days after Christmas I placed an order and went to pick it up. Tacos, beans with cheese and cheesy rice. I get home and did not have my cheese on the rice and called to have this corrected. I was told I would have this redelivered to me. After 1.5 and no order of the rice or call I contacted the location and was told they couldn’t find my adress and I was given a credit. I then go in today to get my replacement and speak to a manager who gave me so many problems ordering although I was told I would just need to provide my phone number for a replacement. After he finally just asked my phone number he found the info. I picked up my food and spoke to the manager Carlos directly and asked if there was cheese on the rice? I know I should have just checked myself. He confirmed it was and as soon as I get home there is no cheese yet again. I offered to bring back the rice and get my rice replaced and would also bring the tacos asking them to make me fresh ones since my meal will be cold. I was told that I was lying and the kitchen told him they did put cheese and he would not make me any new tacos but would only do my rice and I should just not buy from them anymore. Really bad service on their end considering I’m not making my own food incorrectly. Needless to say this will be my last visit with them. We went because someone told me it was Taco Tuesday. $2 tacos? Sweet! I asked the server (who took forever to come and take our order - seriously 12 + mins) what the specials were and he said "they're on the board" and gestured to the entry around the corner that we couldn't see (because: walls) Super helpful. So we ordered platters with tacos, even though we knew there was no special on platters. I mean, if it was Taco Tuesday, wouldn't he tell us? (I figured we were just misinformed.) And we came for tacos, so...

My fish tacos were so awful I ate one and brought the rest home to doctor up the next day. My husband's chicken tacos were good.

The food came out in 3? minutes. We literally waited 3x longer for the guy to take our order than it took to get our food.

It felt like a zoo, with employees racing by us, loudly rolling bus carts full of dishes and mop buckets along a bumpy terra cotta tile floor. They didn't even try to be quiet.

When we paid, the hostess told us it was, in fact, $2 Taco Tuesday. Nice to know. Our platters cost $34 together.

I can't think of a single reason to return. There are such better...

Nobody at the entrance welcomed us inside.The server didn’t say a word to us when walking us to our seats. The chips n salsa were plopped onto our table (still not a peep out of the server. I understand there may be a language barrier, but come on). Ordered lunch and food came out great. After eating, we hand them our credit card nobody came to tell us what was going on after 15 minutes. I stood up from my table to ask our waiter what was going on and he pointed across the restaurant towards the cash register. Our waiter then walked away and went to the back of the kitchen. Our waiter never helped to figure out where our credit card was so I patiently sat back down. Another 10 minutes had passed and I walked up to the front near the cash register. Apparently it takes them a REALLY long time to process payments with a credit card. Psssssht. I’ll be calling my bank to switch out cards. Never returning...
