My husband and I came here for our anniversary and weāve been here before. Iāve gotta say that their food is inconsistent. I had to create this review because our recent experience was an utter disappointment. At the beginning it was fine the nigiri sushis were delicious and well made and the eel rolls were phenomenal but as we were about to head to our second round, they forgot our mango shrimp roll and teriyaki steak. In addition, the salmon skin roll did not have salmon skin it was loaded with cucumber and 5% was not even salmon skin it was fried tempura batter. The waitress came to us and asked us if we wanted to order more and we said yes and got another menu for another round. Since they forgot the teriyaki steak and the mango roll I decided to place another order for it. After, 2 orders or the steak came out and since they have a policy to pay extra for the leftover food, they should at least make the service less confusing. What made it really disappointing was that last sushi roll was shrimp tempura with no shrimp at all!! The roll was filled with 75% rice and the rest was avocado, lettuce and fried tempura batter. My husband said it does not taste like the shrimp tempura roll he usually gets and we took it apart to find no shrimp. Iām sorry but why would you feed us expensive fish and not even put a single piece of shrimp in the roll?? Never had I ever in my whole life and Iāve been eating sushi for 15 years ever seen lettuce in sushi. It is like the cheapest money saving tactic I ever witnessed. For those of you who ate sushi in a bigger and more diverse city please believe me when I am saying the quality is like grocery store quality because I am from a more bigger diverse city with 2 Japanese Towns. My husband was craving sushi so we decided to go to Kochi. I am usually not the one who craves for sushi in this town but the shrimp tempura roll was so disappointing that I just had to make this comment to warn all of you guys. Consider us never coming back because we rather drive an hour to Champaign for sushi and Chinese owned like this sushi restaurant yet still so much better with certified sushi chefs who are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāve come to Kochi many times and have very rarely had a positive experience with the servers. Tonight takes the cake though. We were shown to our table and then left alone for 10 minutes ( Alright, no biggie.) Then when our āserverā came up to us, there was no greeting just āAre you done?ā as she gestured to our all you can eat menu. Mind you, we havenāt even been asked about drinks. She then takes the menu and goes to walk away and I have to ask after her for our drinks. We get our food, which was alright, and then both servers proceed to go to every other table but ours repeatedly. Finally after trying to get our serversā attention multiple times, I ask the other server for our bill and THEN our server shows up asking if we want another menu, water, xyz. It wouldāve been nice to have had that DURING our meal. Both girls seemed more concerned with getting to talk behind the counter than doing their actual job. This isnāt the first time weāve had issues with the servers not doing their jobs. After how rude they were this time around, Iām not sure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place!! Nice and clean inside. Sushi was excellent!! My brother and I were quite impressed. We had the $25 per person all you can eat sushi. We ordered 44 pieces and 2 plates of white rice on the side and 2 waters to drink. This included 4pc shrimp nigiri (top right) 4pc yellowtail nigiri ( bottom right). 6pc Philadelphia roll (bottom center) 6pc California roll (bottom left). 16pc Rainbow roll (full middle row) And 8pc Tempura Volcano roll.(top row above Rainbow) Never seen Volcano done in tempura but it was the best of the plate I think and I love Nigiri. That's saying something! Wasabi was good not overly hot, about "normal". Dry, not as creamy as some places. Actually, we should have asked for more. We debated on another Tempura but decided it's pushing our luck. Absolutely give it a try!! Just know that every piece you don't eat costs $1 each to take home. There was a large menu to order from. Apologies, I should have taken pics of those. But I was ready to EAT! Total Bill was $57.57 I'd be very surprised if you didn't...
