Legends Management this will be a multiple rating 1/2-5 stars. 1/2-star reservation not honored- reservation was on 2/26/22 @ 6:15pm, arrived at 6:10pm gave my name. 2 separate couples arrive behind us and was seated first & they stated no reservations. Another group of 3 arrive with no reservation and was seated. The hostess ask my name 3 times and each time our table would be ready shortly! When we were seated at a 4 person table there was an empty 2 person table next to ours? Waiter gave us the menus took drink order, brought drinks, we ordered the appetizer special cajun gumbo & the duck breast dinners, Waiter said they were out duck-wow! So we ordered the Crabcake topped tilapia dinners. The gumbo arrived- one bowl only by a waitress & told her we both ordered the gumbo- several minutes later I got mine from our waiter.(gumbo gets 5 Stars- service gets 1star) Then we get 2 plates with 2 crabcakes on each followed by the salads? Asked our waiter to see the menu again and I showed him we ordered the meal, he apologized and said he put in the appetizer! Manager/Hostess came over and apologized & the order was being rushed. (The crabcakes appetizer were free). "Service has gone down to a 1/2 Star"! My wife had to ask for more coffee-second cup- waiter refilled her cup with "COLD" coffee! Manager/Hostess stopped by to let us know our dinners are out in about 5 min. I informed her my wife's coffee refill was served cold, she fixed that problem. Our dinners arrived and we give the Chef above "5-STARS"! This was our 39th Wedding Anniversary & the worse dining experience ever as far as service-1/2 Star, Food was Excellent-5 Stars! Also 5 Stars for the piano man! The online reviews were in the 5 Star range stating to order the Duck, so much for that! Your hours for Saturday were from 5pm to 10pm, by 6:30pm you were out of Duck, maybe if we had been seated on time there may have been...
Read moreWe went to Legend’s to celebrate our anniversary, and they did not disappoint. When we reserved the table, they noted it was our anniversary and put a white tablecloth down JUST at our table. We used to go there regularly when we lived by campus but it got off our radar.
Erin our server was precious and gave good recommendations, and I was so pleased they still have a piano player even on a random Tuesday night ..
I had the blue cheese balsamic steak, cooked perfectly and was SO tender (wedge salad preceded, I had forgotten about the bacon bits so yummy) . Jim had the crab cake topped tilapia, and it was flavorful and also cooked perfectly (so easy to overcook fish), and potato and pork soup, which he said was very rich and satisfying.
I will say I couldn’t eat very much of my entree bc it was very rich, AND I tried not to eat my bread but it came out so fresh and that extra cold butter…..I couldn’t stop. I recommend going easy on that bread so you can enjoy the sour cream chive mashed potatoes.
Amaretto chocolate cake for me (my favorite for decades) and cobbler for my husband, also perfect. Even though I was full I somehow managed a few bites of my cake.
The idea that they put down a white tablecloth on a slow Tuesday night JUST FOR US is beyond special. We saw some friends from leadership Norman and had a deluge of memories from there.
There is an upscale steak restaurant that we went to on the west side, and I’m not sure we will go back. Keep the Legend alive! So glad to put this restaurant back on our...
Read moreFor Valentine's Day, my wife and I ate at Legend's. The staff were excellent, swiftly seating us and proving prompt service throughout the night. Whenever our drink ran low or plate emptied, the waiter came to top us off or clear our table.
The ambience was particularly sublime. Despite the crowded interior, conversation volume never grew too loud. Furthermore, the beautiful interior was complimented by the sound of romantic piano music of a live performer.
Alas, the splendid service and ambience were not matched by the food. Though the tomato basil soup was delicious, the mac and cheese I ordered for my main meal was sub-par. It was excessively large, with the platter sufficient to feed two or even three persons. The texture was coarse and the macaroni felt dry and tasteless. The macaroni could be improved by making serving sizes significantly smaller and with a modest addition of creamier cheese.
My critique of the mac and cheese should not be taken as necessarily indicative of the quality of other offerings on the menu. My life greatly enjoyed the lasagna rolls, a surprise given she normally dislikes dishes with cheese in it. I previously ate the lasagna dish and I can affirm it is rich in texture and taste without being overwhelming in size.
Please compare my experiences with other reviewers. Legends is a wonderful dining locale and the pride of Norman, even if the quality of the food is inconsistent. Other reviewers can provide guidance as to which dishes to consume and...
