Read moreI ordered a waffle and some bacon this morning from this diner I had heard so many good things about... I had high expectations after having read a few good reviews of the joint. To say the least my expectations were not met by any means. First off, lets talk about the bacon, dry, flavorless, texture-less, with an unappetizing tree-bark-like vibe. If I was blindfolded and given this "bacon" with the task of naming what I was eating, I'm afraid I would sooner guess pieces of dry brittle wood. My main point is if you're interested in bacon you would be better off ordering a bacon cheeseburger from McDonald's and removing the bacon from your burger to have with your breakfast, or ever better would be to buy yourself some fresh bacon and properly cook the bacon like any normal human being with any cooking experience ( or access to the internet) would. As for the waffle, I will admit that the waffle wasn't part of my order, it was my coworkers, he instantly complained about the waffle to me and insisted i try some in order to verify that the waffle indeed had some structural flavorless issues. For one the waffle was hard as a rock on the outside and soft. mushy, and almost uncooked on the inside. There was no sign of seasoning or flavor and the frozen thawed strawberries and strawberry water that they gave us on the side only made the situation worse. The maple syrup was the fake corn syrup stuff no maple flavor to be heard of. Anyways needless to say this was a bad experience. If you're looking for somewhere nice to eat I recommend that you go someplace with more positive reviews, I will not put it out of the realm of possibility that someone just had a bad day in the kitchen. Regardless I wont be returning anytime soon. Sorry for the...
Read moreI’ve been going to Fari’s for a couple of years now and it’s easily the best diner in the North Andover-Lawrence area. Most other spots in NA will be closed at unpredictable times or have inconvenient hours, so I’ve naturally ended up at this diner very frequently. It’s everything that a classic diner should be: extremely fast and easy service (not to mention friendly), super low prices, and of course amazing food. Along with all the essential all-day breakfast and grill options, this place has a significant Caribbean cultural influence that lends itself to some of the best dishes I’ve ever tried (like the pork carnitas mofongo plate). Everything I’ve tried here is incredible for such a modest and rather hidden-away establishment, and even after leaving a beyond well-deserved tip (which never feels like enough), I’m always shocked to see how low the bill is. Don’t be fooled by Fari’s relative lack of recognition in the community or its unfortunately tucked-away location; it’s the best spot to go if you need breakfast or lunch and you need it fast and cheap. Try the home fries and the chicken and rice soup, and don’t forget to thank me later....
