Located in the heart of North Bethesda, this Japanese restaurant offers a solid dining experience with a casual, laid-back atmosphere — perfect for family meals or get-togethers with friends. The service is decent, though it lacks the extra warmth or attentiveness you might find at more refined establishments. Here’s what we ordered: Edamame: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-have at any Japanese place. Their version was flavorful, but the portion was quite small. Spicy Creamy Shrimp Tempura: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended! The shrimp was fresh, the coating crispy, and the sauce creamy with a unique and delicious aroma. Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great combination of textures — crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside. The spicy tuna filling was flavorful and satisfying. Impossible Taco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Surprisingly juicy and full of flavor. A tasty plant-based option that really stood out. Miso Glazed Eggplant⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Slightly firm on the outside and a bit sweet for my taste, but still enjoyable overall. Takoyaki: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Soft, savory, and pleasantly delicate. A nice traditional touch done well. Crispy Chicken⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Although it’s a basic dish, it was really well-executed. The crispy coating and juicy, tender chicken made it one of the standouts of the meal — definitely worth trying. Tonkotsu Original Ramen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The noodles had great flavor and texture. The broth was rich, though slightly heavy. Still, a solid bowl overall. Jinya Nigori Sake ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the restaurant’s own cloudy rice beer — fragrant with rice aroma, smooth and refreshing. Highly recommended if you enjoy sake-style drinks. Overall, a pleasant spot for casual Japanese fare, with some dishes that truly shine. Would definitely come back for a relaxed meal.

JINYA Ramen bar is an excellent option for the Ramen enthusiasts offering authentic flavor and more ramen options than many Japanese restaurants. However, the true ramen connoisseur with time in Japan may find the options and taylorability simply satisfactory. Service was unsatisfactory as our server was curt and rude from the moment he greeted us sharply at our table. While I placed my order he cut me off at the end and moved on to the next patron at my table before I could "make it a combo" losing out on the business of my upgrade and denying me the meal I had planned to have. The atmosphere was uncomfortable due to temperature. It was 64 degrees outside and at least 5 degrees colder indoors. There were at least five other guests at five other tables wearing their coats indoors. When i politely inquired about whether or not they would be able to turn the a/c down, I was rudely told no by the waiter, and he went retrieved a manager. The manager came at me with the allegation of "Are you the one that was complaining about the temperature?" I replied with, "I just asked if it would be possible to turn the a/c down because it's so cold on here." He explained he checked, and the a/c was off, but the fan is on, and it has to stay on. I said ok and thanked him for checking. Sadly, the server was rude to us for the rest of the night. We will not be returning to this establishment unless we order it for takeout. The ramen was good, but it is unlikely we will support this business again.

I went in almost a month after the grand opening with high expectations and my experience did not live up to its hype. We were seated outside at a reasonable time but it was cold and dark AF. I literally could not read the menu in front of me but managed to order the first ramen option on the menu. The server was nice and allowed us to move to the fire pit table which warmed my mood up. We got the Sprouting Up ramen and Spicy Tonkatsu ramen. I did enjoy both flavors of the broth but I felt the noodles fell short in its freshness. It just felt very one dimensional, like biting into noodles that's been reheated and it didn't have that chewiness to them. Although it was an interesting ingredient to include brussel sprouts in the Sprouting up ramen, it could have been roasted a little bit more to give it a bit of a char and add even more flavor to the dish. It's a cool and hip restaurant/bar tucked in its own corner, but for the extra $5 - $10 per bowl, I expectations are a lot higher and it just fell short. In other words, it was over hyped and over priced. I don't think I will actively want to go there unless invited on an outing with friends.

I used to come here often but unfortunately with the change in management and staff I feel like it has gone down hill a bit. I only recognize about two familiar faces. Came here the other night for dinner and we were seated immediately. Only the booths were full as they were expecting a big party so we sat at the ramen bar with another family.

Again, we’ve been here plenty of times so we already know what we want as it’s usually the same order but we scanned for drink option’s. We observe and look around to see if a waiter is coming. We then end up waiting for about 10-15 minutes just for a server to even greet us or take an order.

Waitress finally comes, food and drinks come out staggered. I always order the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen. My daughter always gets the kids meal ramen which comes with a small ramen, 2 pieces of karaage, lollipop, orange slice, salad, small rice bowl with ground chicken and mushrooms and ice cream. The kids combo is such an amazing deal! This time we also ordered the quinoa salad which is delicious and salmon tacos. Although the food is good, the ramen could be better. I feel like it’s now lacking some flavor since before. I now have to add extra seasoning flavor and hot sauce to make it taste better.

Fast forward, we eat our meal and ask for our check. I pay and get two charges to my card. One for our bill and one which is not. The waitress brought me my check and walks away. Again, I received two charges. She could have had the decency to say “I’m so sorry, I accidentally charged the wrong amount to your card but it’s now been voided…” something along those lines but said nothing. I then ask her about the extra charge and she’s very nonchalant about it. Like “yea, I accidentally charged it but I’ll bring you the voided check” which she did not bring but brought my original bill and told me to call back if it does not get returned… I am still waiting for the extra charge to be refunded back onto my card.

This visit put a bad taste in my mouth as service not just at this restaurant but many others is not what it used to be. I am unsure if I will be returning anytime soon because...
