This hotel is ideal for business, and family travel. It is rated a 3-star hotel but offers a 4-star experience with the amenities. It is a full-service hotel with a restaurant, room service, and a nice gym. The room was clean and was upgraded using certificates to one-bedroom twin beds.
We stayed in M30 accessible closet room to the Mezzanine Elevator. This was ideal as it was far enough away that no noise came from the elevator. These rooms overlook the parking lot below and this is not the type of hotel where the view would really matter. The room featured a larger-than-standard mini-fridge and full-size Keurig coffee machine with a nice selection of coffee and teas plus real creamer pods. There was a full-size sofa bed and ample seating around a large coffee table, but know kitchen amenities like mico wave and also missing luggage wracks. The desk has a translucent appearance which is cool but makes operating a digital mouse useless unless a mouse pad is used.
The room with the two beds were doubles, not queens, although ample space to support queens. This was the biggest dissatisfier with the room and stay that the beds were small for our family of 4.
On several occasions, we asked for various items and they were delivered quickly with a smile. The service we received was stellar and the support from the front desk was very good, but they were rigid with policy elements.
As a Diamond Member, I liked access to the M-Lounge which is restricted to only two guests. We were staying at a time with low occupancy and was not enforced. The breakfast was ok offering scrambled eggs, Bacon or Sausage rotated daily, fried breakfast potatoes, and grits. The other items were baked items and fresh fruit, see the pictures. The lounge was hit or miss if there were snacks throughout the day, but the professional coffee machine offered lattes, expresso and other nice choices beyond just basic coffee.
We did not eat at the restaurant and would recommend against it based on the pricing with the least expensive item being a salad and a very foo-foo fancy pants menu. This would be good for business meals. However, there is a Golf Simulator available that could be fun located adjacent to the bar.
Overall pretty nice stay and the only real gripe were paying for parking, however, suspect when they have conferences this helps restrict and create an area specific for hotel guests which is a good thing.

Read moreI had the pleasure of staying at the North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center the week before Thanksgiving. This was a vacation to DC for my wife and I. I typically stay at Marriott locations when available due to the normally reliable quality and service. This location DID NOT disappoint.
Pros: Room - Believe we were in room 860. Plenty of space in the room for an extended stay. The beds are mildly firm (I actually prefer a little more firm). The Internet was fast and I was able to connect my firestick to the TV (hit and miss with Marriott lately). Bathroom was clean and we loved the shower. Larger than the typical tub\shower and excellent pressure. Great view out the window as well. Overall, the room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. Location. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Make sure you check out the Pike and Rose area. Very Nice. If in a hurry, there is a McDonald's right across the street and a small shopping center right beside it. Metro: The North Bethesda Red Line stop is just a few mins walk from the hotel. Since we were in town to see the sites, this was a must for us. Service: From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, Service was OUTSTANDING. Was always greeted with a smile and when I had questions they were prompt to respond. Parking: Yes, some people might list this as a negative. But I found their nightly parking rate reasonable ($19 per night as of November 2023). I actually selected a rate that had parking included. Make sure you look for that if you decide to drive. During the week, there appeared to be ample parking, but we did notice on the weekend it did get near max capacity.
Cons: No breakfast included. Not even the standard American Breakfast you get at most hotels. No coffee either. All was available, but came at an additional cost.
I did a lot of research before selecting this location for our stay. Again, great location, fair price, and a very nice upscale hotel. Some people may want to stay a little closer to the main DC area. But we prefer to stay a little further out by choice to avoid some of the crowds. You can get to all the key museums and sites in ~40 mins via the...

I have stayed at this property many times. My stay was 25-29 Dec 2018 and I resided in room 1015.
The property in 2017-2018 was renovated, and this is a much nicer hotel because of it. Key changes:
the restaurant was moved from the back of the building in a dark space into an extended lobby area, creating a more open, bright, and inviting space. To the right in the lobby are large work desks where groups of people can set up their laptops for those who don't want to work in their rooms and don't want to sit at the bar. Smart. There were two computers in a business-center area of the lobby. I didn't use them so not sure if they were full internet access or available to print out boarding passes only. There is also a fitness center on the lobby floor.
the rooms were redone. -- there is not a separate desk but instead a long rectangular surface on the wall opposite the bed with a chair tucked under it and easy-to-access power outlets and USB ports, so you can work in your room if you want. But surface area can also be used for other purposes too. Space saver and cleaner lines.
The TV has internet services. This is a plus for people like me who don't want to watch television. I streamed music from my Pandora account all five days of my stay.
The new shower stalls have glass doors. white walls (not marble but a totally acceptable hard finish material), and the stream of water strong. Drain is rectangular and rests against the wall where the shower head is mounted - no stepping on circular drains cut in the middle of the shower area. Shower head easy to move around. There is also a hand held water spigot. A really nice improvement.
The new beds are superior. One of the best of the Marriotts I've stayed in during the past two years. Comfortable mattress and quality sheets + duvet.
In sum, the recent renovation is a big improvement. I stayed at this location in the past because of its lociation; now I will return because of the quality...
