SEPHORA — Local services in North Bethesda

I visit the Pike and Rose area on a normal basis, however I never shop at the Sephora in this location until today (7/21/24) and this will be my last. From the moment I walked in the door, not one associate greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. I walked up the middle of the store straight to the skincare aisle because I knew what I wanted. Once I chose the product I came for, I began to browse through the aisles to see what new products are in store and pick up any items that may come to mind. I am a Rouge member and spare no expense whenever I make my Sephora visits. Throughout my 45min experience, again, not one associate genuinely asked me if I needed any assistance. However, they would peep through the aisles watching me, one associate even came right next to me, meddled with the products and said absolutely nothing to me. I walked away from her because again, I was still browsing. I literally watched the other associates assist “other” patrons who entered the store, yet I was completely ignored and monitored the entire time. I browsed the entire store and no one asked me for help until I stopped near the Dior products and a young lady peered down the aisle at me and when I picked up one of the products she then jumped to asked if I needed assistance. When I first entered the store it was nearly empty so the young women had no excuse in providing me assistance. When I finally checked out, the young lady at the register asked if anyone assisted me and I politely stated “not a soul.” The young lady ignored my remark and wouldn’t even look me in my eye. Once we completed the transaction, I asked for the manager and was approached by Mary Mata. I explained to her my grievance, she apologized profusely and stated she didn’t even see me in the store, however everyone else did. What I experienced was pure prejudice, the crazy part about this story is there was a young woman to represent every ethnicity working in that store, that is literally not an exaggeration. You would think they would provide assistance since I’m sure they would get treated similarly in certain areas. However, not one person made me feel welcomed in that store. This will be my last time patronizing this location. I would implore the management at this location to work on the customer service your associates provide because the attitudes were grotesque....

Chi is a very professional and skilled makeup artist who perfectly executed a glam look for a gala that I was attending. She already knows that I will be back to get her recommendations for products to achieve a flawless every day look. Thanks Chi!

UPDATE: I had to amend this review because of events that transpired this morning. I now understand why this location gets poor reviews. Per my original review, I made a follow-on appointment with Chi. I left my house, bare-faced on a windy, rainy Saturday morning for the appointment, only to find out, upon arrival that Chi wasn't coming. Her replacement, who I'm sure is lovely, informed me that she had called in and my replacement would be handling my service. I get it. Life happens. But, I specifically asked for Chi, and I didn't get what I asked for. Furthermore, no one bothered to call or text me to inform me ahead of time, which was completely unprofessional, primarily because it was very inconsiderate of my time.

Going forward, I will do my utmost best not to patronize this location. Luckily, there are many other options in this area, and there's also the app, two things that this location did not consider when mishandling my...
