Hang Yuen Kitchen — Restaurant in North Canton

The lady at the counter was nice and there was no language barrier. The food was terrible. I first noticed that the rice did not smell nice like it does from other Chinese restaurants. Szechuan chicken is my favorite. I've never really had a bad experience so I wasn't prepared for this. In all fairness the menu said it was a tomato sauce. I thought to myself " okay, I guess I never really thought of the base of Szechuan sauce" so I ordered it. this is not the Szechuan sauce you may be used to. It is pure tomato sauce. It tastes more like the sauce you would get on stuffed cabbage. In my experience tomato sauce does not go with every vegetable nicely. If I were not so hungry I would not have eaten it. I don't like to waste food but would've made an exception. I felt like I was a child eating vegetables that they didn't have a choice to eat but they dreaded each bite. Again I was so hungry I had to eat. Soy sauce may have made it better but I took it to go and didn't grab any. My stomach apparently concurred because I got sick. after reading a few of the reviews on here, I was inspired to write one myself. Not sure what other reviews are talking about but I’ve been coming here for a few years often on a weekly basis and not once has anyone ever been rude to me in fact, quite the opposite, very friendly.

As far as the quality is concerned, no it’s not gourmet and it’s not from New York, should that be a surprise? But it’s really solid standard Chinese takeout food. In fact, it’s a bit less bland than a lot of the other options around here, so I would consider it above average. Update 2025: After reading the must recent reviews, I decided to give this restaurant another try. They're only a 2-minute drive and finding a decent Chinese food is becoming increasing difficult. I'm so glad I have them another chance. It appears that they've taken all of the feedback over the years and have made the some good changes. The food was fresh, flavorful, and a decent quantity. The staff was nice. And, I love that they now have online ordering! Keep up the great work!
