Super disappointed in this place now. I’ve been coming to hatteras for 23 years and the Dancing Turtle was always a highlight - until it moved. This new space is small, hot, and just not pleasant to be in. The old location had open mic nights, tasteful decor, and cozy spots to hang out. The flow here to order and receive your drink is awful. You need bug spray just to walk to the door. The kids who work there aren’t friendly and know nothing about coffee. They seem to batch brew espresso into a pitcher and then use it for drinks. The pastries sit on the edge of the counter in an exposed ā€œcaseā€- no protection from bugs or people sneezing/coughing. I ordered 3 iced drinks- each of them had probably 6 small ice cubes and were warm by the time I got them home. My mocha had separated and turned into little clumps. I waited for about 20 mins for all my drinks as the next 5 people in line ordered and received theirs first. These kids need coffee & customer service training, and the place needs to be deep cleaned. Super sad downfall of one of hatteras’ best establishments....

Update after the response- so typical of your response to anyone who calls out your rudeness! No apologies , only trying to prove customer wrong. I don’t even know how what did you charge me for, as my order was not taken correctly and i had to pay additional amount for smoothie! No receipts were given! I was so surprised to see your behavior, that i just left place without counting your refund or question as you obviously had no time other than stating - YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE REFUNDING FOR REPLACEMENT- which I didn’t even ask for but made it look embarrassing in front of the queue of customers not knowing the situation!

Utterly rude and unorganized staff! You can’t get paper wrap out from muffin and they will offer you money back like favor and utter rudeness you can imagine ! Had good feeling about NC until i interacted with the lady here who works or owns this place! Don’t go to ruin your morning. Nothings worth your...

Ok... I'm a snob. I'll admit it. I'm PAINFULLY picky about my coffee (which is why I generally just do it myself) and the bar was low. Mostly because of severe disappointment each time I order something... anywhere. Not here. Not ever. This was a stop on our first morning on the island and we were there nearly every day they were open after. Perfectly steamed milk, perfectly balanced flavor. (At least when who I'm assuming to be the or one of the shop owners is making the drink.) There's love in that cup. There's a sense of pride in the craft and my God did it not come through. A lavender latte is a hard thing to balance but it worked, flawlessly. I'd drive an hour south just to get a cup. It's that good. The outside seating is a welcome and refreshing plus. Sitting in a rocking chair with one of your favorite friends, sipping on a cup of perfection is the absolute best start to a day and I'm so glad I got to...

Great coffee in a tucked back location. I actually love the location, but if you are new to the area or never been, basically it is directly next to the red and white market. I got a snickers frozen mocha multiple times, fantastic. Others in our group got an Americana (loved), coconut coffee (which was available as a serve yourself flavor) with an extra pump of coconut syrup, and an almond joy frozen latte. I personally liked the almond joy latte flavor (because I prefer a heavier mocha flavor) but the person in our group preferred lighter on the mocha. The second time we ordered we asked for it that way and it was perfect for them. Everyone was helpful and nice. It seems like you could really get anything you want here! Even for kiddos who don’t need the caffeine.

Been looking forward to this visit and the Butterscotch Blossom and French Vanilla lattes were as delish as expected! The new location between the Red & White market and the Blue Pelican yarn store is really nice, altho handicap accessibility is limited. The most direct access is to park in the corner of the lot adjoining the Red & White where there is a small ramp to the sidewalk, then a paved path with 2 bricked steps leading to a fairly steep ramp to the front door, then a small step over the doorsill and you're inside. We were able to navigate it with a walker and limited mobility (coming down the ramp may be more of a challenge). We enjoyed the shady outdoor seating area, and they also have a badminton net and beanbag toss set up in the front.
