Update: I originally had a 3 star because I thought they were nice. I called to express my concern about the salad, especially for the cost, and the worker who picked up was quite rude telling me that I said no cheese. To which I answered so that means I get just lettuce for $7. She said there was nothing she could do, in a not nice tone. I asked to speak to a manager and waited for 5 minutes to be told the manager was too busy to speak to me. I’ve worked in customer service and restaurant service for many years and haven’t had service this bad in quite a while. Very disappointed and will not be ordering here again. We were in town for the weekend and wanted to get takeout for dinner. We ordered 2 chicken parmigiana dinners ($16 each) a Garden salad ($7). First issue was we picked up our order and then got home and realized they didn’t give us the salad. So we went back to get it. Honestly it wasn’t worth going back for because to our surprise it was just a container of ice berg lettuce. Literally nothing else. That is not a salad and certainly not worth $7. Then we opened our chicken parm dinners, something we order from takeout from a lot of places, and were very surprised at how small the order was and lack of chicken. It was just cut up pieces of chicken, not even a whole piece. My husbands chicken parm dinner had pieces of plastic in it because their lid broke into a bunch of pieces before he opened it. Ultimately we feel the food is very over priced for what you get and felt that warranted a review. They were nice, no issues there, just disappointed with the quality and prices.

The cook, not the host lol the COOK made us move from public outdoor seating (that was covered) and said they wouldn’t serve us our food that we already paid for unless we sat at their outdoor seating (that had a cover but was rolled up). We asked them to please unroll the cover because it was 80° and sunny and they told us they couldn’t because of the rain. This was at 2pm and the rain isn’t supposed to start until 5pm. Sitting inside wasn’t an option because we had our two dogs with us that were allowed at the public outdoor seating. The cover was unrolled a little bit so my dad unrolled it just enough that it was covering most of our table. The cook (who would not give us his name) came outside maybe 5 minutes later and rolled it back up this time completely up. We asked him to please accommodate us as we have already paid for our food and would like to eat without the sun beating down on us. He would not acknowledge us and only said “You’re not supposed to touch this” mind you there wasn’t a sign that said not to. To me it was like sitting at a restaurant with window blinds, people open and close them to accommodate their needs all the time. We explained to him that there was no rain coming until 5pm and that we would be more than happy to roll it back up for them before we leave. We still got no response. Very disappointing because they do have great food and we always eat here at least once everytime we come to our beach house. I just know the weather owner would’ve accommodated us as he literally bought and and had the cover installed for that very reason lol.

My husband calls back up to the restaurant and lets them know and to have them replaced with something else (which they are lucky we called them and gave them a heads up instead of the administration). Why they did not catch this before they sent it out to us I will never know. The manager spoke through the waitress on the phone as if my husband could not hear him and told her that he's not replacing anything, he took it off the bill and will refund us and that's our discount. Well that defeated the purpose of not going out on New Years Eve and dealing with traffic but also how is that a discount if we still have 2 disgusting pieces of cake. We were not asking for a refund only for the food to be replaced. We were not trying to get something for nothing. However that manager was rude as can be when he thought my husband could not hear him and also he should have been a little more concerned over the fact that the cake was covered in mold versus a refund or replacement of the food. That's the least of his worries if that's what they are sending out to their customers. This is a huge health hazard in the restaurant not to mention poor management to customer who have been here ordering from them since they opened their doors in Surf City. pictures included.

Look at the Facebook reviews before going to this place. I’m not the only one! ✌🏻 Literally the worst and scariest eating experience I have ever had!!! The “manager.” Not sure I believe he is the manager because I’ve never seen a manager react the way this man did. Very unprofessional. A pizza we ordered came out wrong. We told the waitress , she went back and told the kitchen the kitchen people told us it was right the waitress relayed the information back and that’s when we asked for a manager. We explained to the manager we ordered the specialty pizza with everything on it. The menu literally says (all items) on it. We tried to show him the menu but he refused to look at what we were reading from and told us that’s not right. They forgot two toppings that we wanted ..... instead of offering to make a new one or bring out the other two toppings which would have been totally fine. We could have just sprinkled them on top no big deal right? Anyways this manager refuses to do anything takes our pizza off our table turns around speedwalks to the garbage and THROWSSSS the pizza at the garbage can. The pizza went allllll over the floor he didn’t blink a eye. He goes into his kitchen and about 10 mins later sends one of his poor employees to come clean up after him. I’m telling you right now this “manager” is unstable UNSTABLE. someone is going to get hurt. He reminded me of a 13 year old who just got told to go to his room. I’ve never seen anyone act that way especially a manger. I started shaking I was so scared. He went and hid in the back for a while because he knew he acted literally crazy I’m sure . When he came back out my boyfriend asked for him to return. He came back out and my boyfriend asked him for clarification that he was actually the manager. He confirmed. Then he asked for his name which then he replied I don’t have to tell you and stormed away once again like a child. I’m telling you MARK MY WORDS whoever this “manger” is he is extremely unstable. He’s a ticking time bomb. I would stay away from this place. Not to mention we visited during covid phase 2 and no one was wearing masks. The bathrooms were super gross. The girls bathroom has two toilets in it with no stalls separating it. It was dirty inside also however it’s a pizza place so I mean..... I kinda let that slide but during covid I would expect a little bit more wiping down of tables doors ect. You know, like most everywhere else is doing it. Anyways this guy needs mental health care. I hope he gets the help he needs he’s gonna snap. Pizza was ok but we will never be back. If you do visit STAY SAFE ! And if you have any issues with the food keep it to yourself. They aren’t there to please you as the customer. They don’t care if your foods messed up and honestly you may be putting your self and your family in danger by making any contact with the so...

This may sound a bit derogatory, but it is meant in love: We eat from Michaelngelos very frequently. The staff is fabulous! We haven’t eaten in store, but have picked up. But, we mostly have orders delivered. The delivery drivers are unsung heroes and have a wonderful, caring demeanor! As a pancreatic patient, I don’t get but a bite or two from hubby’s orders, as this is NOT panky-type food. BUT, from what I have literally TASTE-TESTED: The sandwiches are insanely salty! We have thrown 80% of them away after 1 bite, and have pleaded for NO SALT when ordering! The pizza can often be soggy, so ALWAYS ASK FOR WELL DONE. By the time it arrives, it is a sloshy mess in the middle! When they arrive well done though, they are primo-A-#1. Especially the veggie pizza... just terrific!!! The sauce is very tasty and not spicy at all, so parents, order for your kids w/o concern! If they’d only stop salting the sandwiches...Now, I do realize that my fellow NC’ian’s really love their salt (even salting bacon/pork...UGH)... But, for AT LEAST those customers dealing with high blood pressure/cardiac issues, I beg all of these restaurants to PLEASE STOP SALTING CUSTOMERS FOOD FOR THEM! That said, we do really love this little pizza place and are very happy that they have remained consistant in the service they provide and in making the areas BEST PIZZA! I would like to suggest them selling healthy salads!!! Or possibly even an UNSALTED grilled chicken and a nice mini dinner salad-stuffed pita pocket with Ranch dressing. I would order those nonstop lol... and I also think they’d be a fabulous and quick lunch offering! Maybe even a BBQ Chicken Pita W/Home fried Potatoes, and a bit of salad in them, as well? The lunch crews would love it, I think...Easy to hold on to on one’s short lunch break..and easy to prep. YES? Lol So, basically, as long as you ask for a WELL DONE Pizza and a NO SALT Sandwich, you’re golden! Ok,... well...Thanks...

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! 5/26/2023 (5-6:00pm). (It's so bad, the dogs would NOT even eat it!!) This is for owners John, Jan, Will.... and staff manager Dwayne. Over phone order taker Carmela.... passed to server Armani ....HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE TONIGHT..... (the only good experience in this NIGHTMARE is the driver-delivery guy, Jullian)! We have been in the area for a year and enjoy trying new local pizza places... all great experiences.....until Michaelangelo's Surf City, NC. We ordered a large half meat lovers with mushroom and half supreme loaded. Received the total and told Carmela to add the 20% on the credit card for tip (vs cash on hand at door). Driver arrived. Super nice. Nope they didn't give the poor guy his 20% (we are in our 60s, not born yesterday) and were not going to double tip. Got Carmel on phone in front of driver. She said "yes you did, oops, yah okay I will". Driver says take a look at pizza before I leave. I open to find a half cheese pizza and half something else. It's my husband's birthday (67), so horrible birthday and it's dinner time. So, no we are not going to re-order and wait 2 hours. Thanked the guy. Asked for names. Called the store and went through 4 people and run around, to finally get a manager on the phone. I ask for his name, and his says "manager". So yes, that was "Dwayne" the manager, who would not give his name. I then go to read reviews on this place and see a LONG LIST of complaints. I wish I had read the reviews first before trying this outfit. HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT. Pizza looks and tastes worse than a cheap Caesars type pizza or could have ordered cheap dominos. SAVE YOUR MONEY and order any other local pizza place but this one. Horrible operating business that should be put out of business here in this...
