MISSION BBQ — Restaurant in North Carolina

Great food; but massively unprofessional when it comes to catering & honoring their contract.

My husband and I chose Mission BBQ to cater our wedding. We loved their food, and the initial meeting with Michelle, their catering manager, was fantastic. She was easy to talk to, gave us several options from main course to sides to sauces, and even put what we had agreed on in writing. That's the only positive encounter we had with her, and with this company.

She was almost IMPOSSIBLE to get in contact with after that meeting, and we were trying to book her services! She promised us several things: a specific delivery/set-up time the day of our wedding, that she would bring enough food to feed our guests, and that they would take most (if not all) garbage with them. We booked her months in advance, and she expressed an interest in contacting our venue before the wedding. Guess when she actually showed up to check out the venue? THE DAY BEFORE. TWO HOURS LATER THAN SHE PROMISED. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO OUR REHEARSAL. No big deal, right? Unforeseen things happen all the time, no weddings go smoothly, and that is totally understandable. But her unprofessionalism and apparent lack of interest in providing quality service or making a catering event a priority was disturbing.

The day of the wedding, she had promised to have her tables set up inside before our ceremony began at 3pm. At 2:45p my husband had to call her, only to find out that they hadn't even left yet. Thankfully they didn't interrupt the ceremony, but they did set up DURING our reception. Even my photographer told me that in over 17 years he has never seen a catering company set up in front of the guests during a wedding. Not once did we receive an apology or an explanation from this woman or this business. I was also informed that they ran out of sides around the time half of our guests had been served. We provided a head count well in advance & communicated with her as much as she would allow; this sub-par service lies entirely on her. Lastly, they may have taken some trash with them, but we ended up having to dispose of over 8 large bags of garbage, and the reception was over shortly after they left.

We've attempted to contact her, and the company, several times. No one is ever available to talk. Michelle & the management refuse to return our calls. DO NOT BOOK THEM...

Let me tell you about the best BBQ place I've ever had. Mission BBQ had me charmed from the moment I walked in the door with is friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. An enthusiastic staff greeted us with a smile, and were ready to to make suggestions and offered samples to aid in ordering, but it takes more than a great staff to make a great restaurant, it takes great food and Misson BBQ delivered!

I had more food in front of me than I knew what to do with generous portions and excellent sides. Delicious smoked turkey and the best lean brisket I've ever had. My wife and I ordered different things and shared so we could get a full experience! Everything was simply amazing. The pulled pork sandwich the coleslaw. Mac and cheese, and my personal favorite sides the green beans and baked beans.

The table had a diverse sample of BBQ sauces from all over the U.S, but there is also a white sauce available upon request that pairs excellent the turkey.

walking in i was skeptical, it has the atmosphere of a five guys but more old fashioned and rustic(which I think is amazing), you walk up front and order your food, and wait for your name to be called to pick it up. they have a variety of BBQ sauces. and the smokey one blew me away, I ended up dumping it all over my ribs, which were fall off the bone delish. they were smokey and salty and the BBQ sauce was a little sweet and it just went perfect together. they let us sample the shrimp that's in season right now and some of the chopped meat for the sandwiches and it was so yummy. we also got some Mac n cheese, it was gooey and cheesy and my daughter ate a whole helping to herself! the collars greens are salty and tender yet not too tender. definitely tastes fresh. the fries and very good and the corn bread was moist and tender also, with chunks of corn in it. for a semi fast food place I was blown away. definitely going again I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars cause it was some of the best...
