Horrible service. The hostess is about the most lethargic person I have ever met. Rolled her eyes and balked at the fact that I asked her to make it right for a mistake she made.
We were here for over 2 hours, and asked about moving from inside to outside. We planned on ordering food. I asked if we could eat outside, the hostess said yes, and that any seating beyond the patio was first come, first serve.
We ordered another round (group of 5) before going outside. We all looked at the menu with the QR code provided on the table outside, and went in to order our food. We were told that we could not order food from the inside bar. So I asked what we needed to do, was told we needed to sit on the patio or inside to eat. Or we had to eat from the outside menu. So I went up to the hostess stand, asked to sit on the patio at an open table, and was told that there were others waiting for that table in front of us. It was her mistake by telling us we could eat outside when we actually couldnt. She knew better, because she then tried to hand me an outside food menu, after we were already outside for over half an hour. Just pure laziness. The outside menu was laughable. It was literally hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fries. Basically concession stand food compared to the inside food.
Approached the lady behind the bar, who was willing to comp some beers off our tabs, but that didnt really solve the issue. That was an effort to try to make up for the terrible service provided by the hostess. We just wanted to spend about $120 more on food and were denied service based on the employees mistake. The "eyes rolling", and the "i dont really care" type of attitude from the staff was not worthy of what was about to be a $300 order from our group.
The beer here is honestly mediocre at best, I would save your money. The IPA's are watery and barely cold, theres no way they carbonate them properly. More dry hopping is needed as well, but I shouldnt have to mention that for a brewery of this status. Charleston is full of breweries, and this one is nowhere near the Top 10, save your...
Read moreSo disappointed in holy city brewing.. We have been coming for several years since it was small and just starting out. We drive 4 hours to celebrate our anniversary here. We brought our kids to celebrate this time. Needless to say it was terrible. For starters in the past the service was wonderful this time it was just awful. The woman who served us was so not friendly and very gruff. She took our order and she brought beer to my husband never asked him what size, she just assumed the largest. Then served it once with the cup not filled up because as she walked she splashed out of the cup served it to our table and spilled more. Never asked us how we wanted our burgers cooked. Food took so long to come out. Then after it all and spending $98 for our meal… so over priced now for what you get. A thin smash burger and now we pay for fries. I gave her cash she asked if I wanted change back. I said yes, because I obviously wanted to add it to her tip she gave me attitude left the table came back put my receipt and a $1 bill on the table. And left. Not a thank you have a good Evening nothing. She never gave me all my change back. Unreal. I couldn’t believe how we got treated. So for that she didn’t get much of a tip. They went bigger.. sometimes going bigger isn’t best. Now we the consumer is paying for it and we get treated like crap. Just another number. Typically we buy cups and beer to take home I was so disgusted we left. Never will we be...
Read moreWe came here with a large group before our wedding in April of ‘21 and had a wonderful time outside.
Sadly since then their customer service has severely declined. Another group of us met in November of this year for a going away party. Some tried to buy pitchers for the entire group and one of the bartenders said “we don’t have pitchers, never have.” Then another bartender came up said “yes we do.” And brought up four pitchers? We then asked for 20 cups, the number of guests we had, and that was met with, “we can’t give you that many.” Again, a different bartender was like, “we can give you plenty of plastic cups!” Not sure what this, good cop bad cop routine is all about, but it doesn’t seem like a good idea for any customer service business.
Later my friend went to order some food and they told him “you can’t eat outside”. Fair enough I guess. So we grabbed a standing table inside because we were starving. Now when asked what table we were at we pointed to the inside table. “Nope, no food to that table.”
Never in my life have I found it this hard to give a restaurant money for food and drink they serve.
Anyway, two stars instead of one because the beer was delicious. But as for that bartender, if you have a rotting piece of fruit in your house, people will come over and say your entire home stinks, they won’t realize it’s just one bad apple.
Edit: also no dogs allowed despite a giant outdoor grass area? What is...
