The restaurant was easy to find, parking was aplenty and close to the entrance. I loved the physical appearance, very inviting and friendly, there was a cute patio with plenty of outside seating - in AND out of the shade for your preference. Inside was cool - but not cold and that was a bonus because we had just walked around down town viewing an event so we were pretty hot. Once inside the music was loud enough to hear but not loud enough to drown out any conversation you might want to have. Very family friendly with larger tables for those with multiple diners as well as high chairs for young children and smaller tables for a party of two as well. The bathroom was well kept, clean and smelled great. The tables were clean, we were seated right away with menus and drinks. The menu was easily read, plenty of options and variety! The prices were very reasonable for a lunch or a fun dinner. We didn't have to wait long for our food, it was phenomenal, the favors were just great, everything was cooked amazingly!! I even ordered a to go box for a friend to try.... the reason I am giving two stars is due to the wait staff.... it was probably one of the rudest wait staff I've ever encountered and my husband and I have tried upwards of 75% of Charleston's and the surrounding cities restaurants. NY daughter is 15 months old, she is a loud toddler, she says "Hi" pretty loudly to everyone she sees, she is super friendly and she wants to babble to everyone including us, her parents, and we encourage it. She has a very big personality, she's aggressive and energetic. The staff (specifically the two blonde women) were annoyed by this immediately. 😒 The first thing my daughter did was accidentally knock a cup of soda over, this is the first time in all of the restaurants she's ever been to that she has done this. My husband and I immediately backed away so we didn't get splashed and wet, they were annoyed that we didn't immediately start cleaning it up and gave us dirty looks without saying anything to us at all, we were apologizing every couple seconds for it, my husband and I both were helping to clean it up even though my husband was also holding our toddler, the whole time neither of them said anything at all to us, just came over and haphazardly cleaned the mess up. The table was left with soda still spilled on half of it,my husbamd had to ask if it could be wiped down again because we wouldn't have been able to eat on that table with it the way it was. They didn't say anything in response, just came up and wiped it down. The whole experience we had there they never smiled once, no eye contact and VERY little interaction, very monotone almost an attitude really. My daughter said "HI" several times and they refused to acknowledge there was a little human with us. All in all, I would eat here again for the food, it was that great but the service...
Read moreWARNING: THIS REVIEW MAY CAUSE LEAKY EYE BALLS My partner & i decided to stop in at Sesame tonight after being out in the holiday bustle with our toddler. We live less than a mile away but with our crazy work schedules, we don’t get in to this place as often as we’d like. Similar to many this holiday season, our finances are kinda tight. We’ve been busting our tails to make sure our daughter & immediate family get the Christmas they deserve. My partner was hesitant about going out to eat... however i convinced him it was a good idea. We both come from the restaurant business & with this being the Year of the Pandemic, i knew there were servers just like us who could use our patronage.
We sat down to an absolutely delicious meal. Julie was our waitress, & she was both knowledgeable & kind in her service. I had the daily special which was a meatloaf sandwich (NOT your granny’s meatloaf!!! This one was off the charts!) & my partner had the Cowboy burger. We got a beer each & really enjoyed our time together, nearly forgetting the stresses of the season. Before our check came, the manager approached our table, & i was bracing myself for some bad news. After working in restaurants for as long as i have, I’d grown used to associating a manger approaching the table with negativity. Was our card declined? Did they swipe our card for the wrong amount? Did my daughter do something offensive to another table & now we would be banned from this tasty spot for life? I was wrong on all accounts. The manager explained that due to the holiday season, they wanted to take care of our entire meal. We would only have to pay for the beer & the manager requested we pay it forward. My partner quite literally got emotional at the table. This year has been so challenging for everyone. Restaurants have taken a HUGE hit in this pandemic & i know their wallets hurt just like ours do. This small gesture meant more to us than we can ever express. We adore our community here in Park Circle & it fills my heart with so much pride to call this place our home. The business owners & the neighborhood here fully embraces what community is all about: Taking care of each other. We have every intention of paying this forward, & i hope that whomever reads this review will do the same. Happy holidays, Merry everything, & THANK you to Sesame of Park Circle. Looking forward to our...
Read moreFirst of all, this is in a very unassuming location. First impression was that the vibe and customer service were hands down amazing. Sat at the bar and was offered a drink within 3 seconds, no joke. Burger menu is crazy extensive. Picked my go to, a black and blue medium rare beef burger, of course with their sesame bun. Skipped fries and got cucumber salad to be slightly healthy.
Salad was ok. Cucumber cubes were about an inch, so kind of a lot to eat with a bite. Hoped for smaller slices and more vinegar, needed salt unless you want very basic flavor. But all ingredients were definitely freshest you can get, nothing disappointing about quality at all. Was good but just not what I had hoped for.
Burger: options are endless. Built my own blackened medium rare and blue cheese with bacon. Bun was good. But basic. Not warmed or grilled etc. But still good. Meat was nowhere near medium rare. Asked staff and they confirmed that they marinade the beef, so if you want anything less than medium well, don't expect it. Flavor of beef was good, juicy as should a marinated ground beef. Tomato and lettuce were great.
Service, vibe, freshness all were awesome. Burger and food overall were a bit lacking. If you're going because you're a foodie willing to travel, there may be better choices. If you're in the area and want a really greet place to go, definitely go!
Reason for rating... 5 stars staff, 4 stars atmosphere, 3 stars food which is main intent. Caveat : sure maybe I could have made better menu choices, but that...
