Alright, folks, gather 'round! Let me tell you about a little slice of heaven right here in Dorchester, SC, called Rise and Shine Breakfast Place. Now, if you’re looking for a breakfast joint that’ll make your taste buds do the cha-cha and your belly say, “Thank you, sir, may I have another,” then this is your spot! First off, let’s talk about the ambiance. You walk in, and it’s like stepping into a cheerful postcard of Americana. It’s got that classic diner vibe, complete with checkered floors and booths that look like they came straight outta a ‘50s movie. The walls are adorned with photos of smiling families, pancakes, and—wait for it—more pancakes! I mean, who doesn’t love a good pancake photo? Now, onto the menu! Oh boy, if you’re a breakfast lover, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store—unless you’re allergic to candy. They’ve got everything from fluffy pancakes that could double as pillows, to omelets stuffed so full they’re practically bursting at the seams. I ordered the “Dad’s Special”—a stack of pancakes, a side of crispy bacon, and a cup of joe strong enough to make a grown man do cartwheels. Let me tell ya, when that food hit the table, I felt like the king of breakfast! And speaking of kings, the service here is fit for royalty. The waitstaff are as friendly as a golden retriever chasing a squirrel. They greet you with smiles and make sure your coffee cup is fuller than your kid’s Halloween candy bag. You know it’s a good day when you’re being called “champ” by the waitress. Now, I’ve got to mention the prices. They’re so reasonable I thought I was dreaming. I mean, where else can you get a breakfast that leaves you full, happy, and still have enough change for a tip and a gas station coffee on the way home? If you find yourself in Dorchester and your stomach starts growling like a bear in hibernation, do yourself a favor and swing by Rise and Shine Breakfast Place. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you, and you might just leave with a smile that could light up a whole room!

I've lived about 5 mins from this place for 3 years and finally went in today to get a to-go order. I wanted to like it a lot more than I do. The food is mediocre at best and the service was fine I suppose. Not bad but not super great either. The staff was friendly enough. I know the decor of a place shouldn't have such an impact on the experience of getting food, but it's so bad, I can't NOT talk about it. The "color scheme" looks like children pointed at random paint colors and said "paint this here". Baby blue, forest/earth green, fire truck red, and cobalt blue, do not at all go with the reddish/rusty brown and wood paneling throughout the rest of the place. I could almost forgive it, if the actual paint job itself didn't also look like it was done by children. It looks like they almost tried to start modern-ing it up by adding a few small metallic art sculptures, but they put them on a shelf by the bar(service area?) behind some chicken decorations that remind me of what I used to see in my grandmother's house back in the 90s. So they just look out of place. I know a lot of things I mentioned are not the fault of the general employees, but this place needs a serious overhaul/update. The mismatch colors and everything else makes the experience feel disjointed and awkward. The prices are fine, but for a nice family breakfast or brunch, probably would not bring my family here. And I'll let you judge my biscuits & gravy yourself.

Fiancé and I were dying for some killer pancakes and found this place on Google. They are located in an easy to access spot off Ashley Phosphate, closer to Dorchester Road. The building is a former Applebee’s and has tons of seating. My fiancé ordered the 5 pancakes stack and the pancakes were huge and delicious. I ordered the French toast combo and it was just as good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage is mild and fantastic. No tough skin on them thankfully. I also had their coffee and I’m quite picky about coffee but it was perfect. Our server, Dante, was kind and patient with us. He made sure our food was correct and checked up on us several times throughout our visit. The service was fantastic. Our food came out so fast - we were shocked given how crowded it was. Prices were extremely fair for the amount of food we received. We absolutely needed to go boxes! It is a little cheaper if you pay in cash too! We will definitely be back.

The food was decent and affordably priced. The service was TERRIBLE. My family decided to try them out and place a pick up order after church since they are less than 10 minutes from the house. We were told the order would be ready in 10 to 25 minutes. 1 hour later I was still waiting at the restaurant. The reason I was still waiting is because I tried to cancel the order and get a refund, at which point the hostess went to "find someone to help me" and didn't come back for 15 minutes. She finally returned but with only half my order.

When I told her I just wanted the refund, she left again. I was tempted to just leave and take it up with my card, but I used my cash app account when I ordered online and they have been difficult to process refunds in the past. Anyway, another 10 minutes later, the hostess comes out with the full order. Just wanting the ordeal to be over, I just took the food and went home. Well, not everything was prepared correctly. The eggs "scrambled with chz" came cheeseless. The chocolate chip pancakes had no chocolate chips and so on. It was a big miss and a major disappointment. I had heard and read so many good things, I got my hopes up, but it was a major let down. What we did receive tasted fairly well. The pancakes were a little dry but the breakfast potatoes were awesome! For that, I can give them credit where it is due. They just were not ready for a full house like I experienced when I went to pick...
