New Go to sushi spot for our friends who live in Bothell. This place really is fresh and delicious. Enjoyed the lava roll, pink lady roll, hamachi, and much more! Highly recommend the lava roll as it was my favorite. Ordered sashimi and that was also very fresh. Ordered nigiri and those were very thickly sliced and very well portioned. The ambiance is a little dark. But nothing is taken away from the food and flavors. Rating this a 4 star location because my water glass went empty twice and I had to wave down the waitress after waiting for her to come by. The table had no soy sauce. The restaurant has no kimchee sauce. No full bar. Miso soup is on the saltier side for my liking. Presentation was exceptional. We will be going back if we visit the area again.

Worst sushi place I have ever been to for three reasons. Do NOT go here: FOOD: been eating sushi for over ten years at least, and this is the FIRST time I've ever gotten a bone in my sushi, and not just one, but TWO. SERVICE: took minimum ten minutes from when we were seated just to get asked what we wanted to drink. Got exactly one glass of water, no refills. So when we ran out, that was it. PRICE: prices are on the high end of the sushi scene, including downtown. If the portions were generous, the food good, and the service attentive, that would make sense, but none of those were true, so their prices are way out of line with their value. Do not eat here.

I have had sushi all over the world including places known for their sushi like NYC and Japan. Oceano is one of the very best. They make traditional rolls perfectly but they also offer some of the most innovative and delicious fusion style rolls you can't get anywhere else (Macho Macho). This family owned restaurant hits way above their weight class. Believe it or not, my kids love this place too. During COVID, we definitely miss being able sit at the Sushi Bar and watch them but their take home experience is top notch as well. Bottomline- This place is friendly, afforable, and DELICIOUS! If you are eating sushi somewhere else, you are missing out.

It really is an Oceano themed restaurant. Great ambiance.

Highly attentive staff; constantly checking on you and attending to your needs.

Ceviche tostadas, great flavors. Can’t toot enough about this dish. I would highly recommend this starter. Just the right amount of lime squeeze with sliced mangos and avocados. The wonton crackers were fried perfectly; timing was perfect, no sogginess or droop. Wasn’t able to taste the red snappers; must have been really “bite size” and unassuming. Fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and jalapeños (there was no heat, and initially thought it was bell peppers).

Presentation was great on a boat; decorative cucumber, fish cut design banana leaf and lemon fish cut out.

Ceviche Roll: blacken salmon(tasted more like smoked salmon). Great blend of fresh ceviche and sauce. It lacked some asparagus.

Lava Roll: fresh tuna, and salmon with a bountiful of crab salad. The sweet and spicy(not so much) sauce on top was an excellent compliment.

Fuego Roll: Spicy tuna, flavored well, but mashed like pudding.

I would suggest they use better wasabi. It lacked the heat and tasted like it came out of a tube. And I would recommend they kick up the heat, if it...

What a find! Beautifully plated dishes that tasted so good - a lot of places nowadays seem to drench their rolls in sauce & mayo; that wasn't my experience here. Nice atmosphere, cozy but modern feeling. Servers were pleasant and attentive but not intrusive.

Comments:

  1. I always love when it looks like you can slide up to the bar, meet the chefs, and watch them in action, but here it seems a bit inaccessible; plants on one side and the servers accessing plates from the front.
  2. I know it's a rare find, but it happens... I'd love a rice-free roll or two 🙂
  3. The plating was so thoughtfully and creatively done. Cucumber pillars nested the ginger & wasabi with my roll, and garnished the plate of Hamachi Kama. I love the edible arrangements, but the decorative cucumber chunks were much too large to bite into; they didn't seem intended to be eaten, which is sadly such a waste!😒
  4. Kudos to the hostess- I stopped by on my way home, dining alone. When I walked in, she warmly asked, "Table for one?", as opposed to "JUST one?!!!" accompanied by a dour expression🤨 too often experienced at...

First, they forgot to seat us for almost ten minutes. There were only four other guests inside the venue. They knew we were there, told us to wait, saw us waiting, and still did not seat us until one of us went to the dining area and asked when we were going to be seated.

Second, the tempura shrimp was frustratingly lacking in shrimp. The batter was also mushy rather than crisp.

Third, the udon. The vegetables were not the right vegetables for udon... they did not complement the broth at all. That said, the broth was tasty, and the noodles were chewy.

Fourth, the Hawaiian teriyaki chicken. It was fine. Nothing to write home to, and not worth the price.

Finally, the... Pink Lady? roll. It was the best part of a mediocre meal. I would recommend it.

In general, an average restaurant not deserving of the 4.5 rating it...
