Terrible and Dangerous Experience at Fusion India Restaurant â Will Never Visit Again!
I recently visited Fusion India with my family for a special Valentine's Day dinner, and unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of terrifying. Iâve had drinks there before, and Iâve always enjoyed the drinks served with liquid nitrogen and lightsâit's a fun and unique experience. But this time, things took a dangerous turn.
I ordered a drink, and it came inside a cage with a liquid nitrogen bottle, which I thought was part of the presentation. However, there was no glass of drink visible, and I didnât notice that the bottle had a sticker that said "Do not drink." I asked the waiter if the liquid nitrogen bottle was my drink, and he confirmed it was. Believing the sticker was a prank, I almost took a sip of the liquid nitrogen!
Thankfully, my son noticed the warning label just in time, and my husband and the rest of my family were immediately alarmed. We were all terrified, and I had no idea what could have happened if my son hadnât caught it. I called the server again to confirm if this was my drink, and he finally admitted that the drink should have come with a glass, not just the bottle of liquid nitrogen.
Throughout this, the owner was watching from a distance but never came to check on us or address the situation. It felt as if our safety wasnât a priority. I was so shaken by the experience that I started crying, thinking about the potential consequences. The main server did come to console me and apologized, but it didnât feel like enough given the seriousness of what had almost happened.
Even though they eventually waived the charge for the drink, the owner never once spoke to us personally, which left us feeling dismissed. We tried to explain to the server that this was not about the drink charge, but about the lack of responsibility and safety at the restaurant. After some back-and-forth, the ownerâs assistant came to tell us again that they wouldnât charge us. Despite that, it was clear they were more focused on not charging us than acknowledging the life-threatening situation we had just experienced.
I never expected to be put in such a dangerous situation at a restaurant, and I will never return to Fusion India again. I just want to warn others to be cautious when visiting, especially with the kind of dangerous mistakes that were made here. This could have been a serious incident, and I am deeply upset that the management did not handle the situation appropriately. Be careful if you...
Read moreThe food: The main factor driving this overall rating. We started with the Sadak Soya Chaap and the Shahenshah chicken - both were flavourful, although the soya chaap was a little spicy. We asked for 3 cups of tea, and were told that they were all out of tea - we asked if a new pot of tea was maybe going to be made, and finally did receive one cup of tea. Our table also got kheema pao, which was so good the first time around that we got a second order of it to follow (which was strangely inconsistent and not as good). For sabzi, we got Paneer Mughlai and Chicken Korma, with butter rotis and garlic naan. The Paneer dish was incredibly spicy, even though we had asked for medium spice, so much so that it was barely consumable. It was not a flavourful kind of heat which might come from green/red chillies or whole black pepper - just pure red chilli spice added into the dish seemingly without any measure. When we mentioned this to the server, he assured us, almost speaking over our comments, that it was just medium spicy, despite us clearly telling him that it was not.
The ambience/decor/menu: Fun Bollywood/Mumbai themed decor, with lots of posters of various Bollywood firm, stars, and movies. The ambience was also lively and fun, with upbeat Bollywood songs playing in the background. The menu is entirely creative in its naming of dishes. A few dishes are out of the ordinary on an Indian restaurantâs menu, and most others are familiar. A pity the food did not live up to the quality of the menu. The prices per item on the menu are towards the higher end compared to regular Indian dining menus. There are clearly labeled vegetarian items (and several of them, as youâd expect).
The service: The service was mostly friendly, albeit a little quirky/odd at times, and attentive enough given how busy the restaurant was even at 10 PM on a Friday night.
To get a table on a weekend: We reserved via phone (which they take CC number for and prompt informed us of a $10 charge * size of the part, which seems a little excessive given this is a fairly casual restaurant), arrived 10 minutes before our reserved time and were asked to wait. We were seated at exactly at the reserved time. The restaurant was crowded, and we were told they seat walk-ins/reservations until 10 PM.
Outside the restaurant: A pani puri cart (decent, not wowing nor bad) and a barf ka gola (Desi shaved ice) cart - payment done at the...
Read moreNot been a very pleasant experince to eat here today.
Will surely mention staff and Chef were very helpful and courteous and sweet but food especially chinese was very disappointing.
This was our first time here and last time too.
First of all the only half the restaurant is open for seating so it becomes a conjusted seating if you opt for dine in.
Secondly,Looks like due to covid scenario they offer you to pick all disposables from a station as required for dine in which eventually becomes a little uncomfortable to go and keep picking as needed, though it was informed call which we took to still dine in.
Thirdly and mainly the food - Few things like Pani puri shots and Samosas were really nice.
We ordered Pav Bhaji which was good in taste but the color was bright orange due to food color. It did not give a good feeling to eat so much food color even when the chef assured it was a safe food color.
We ordered Manchurian and A triple sizzler (Chinese again) - both were almost on lines of being Pathetic.Though everything was being served in disposables before this dish, but it was too much for me to digest that sizzler also wont come on a sizzler plate rather came in few different disposable boxes (pic attatched) đ
All i can say is i have never been so blunt in telling so but please avoid Chinese here if possible. It was full of food color ,our lips turned orange and the taste was not nice too.
I have to mention here when asked for feedback and with our negative feedback Chef came to apologise and wanted to replace or offer something else all together and he did prepare for us a Paneer Manchurian as replacement but when I tasted that too it was not much of a difference though thankfully it was minus food color.
I truly appreciate the chef for taking the feedback positively and trying to improve then and there and also providing a replacement ,but I am not sure what can I say - All i know is I am not a returning customer.Best wishes to chef for being so humble and sweet.
It seems they also gave us a 10% discount on bill so did everything to make sure we go happy but I dont know I felt so disappointed in food that I could not stop myself from sharing what i felt.
Hoping restaurant works better on its recipes and food...
