Cruising in to town on our boat, we went to walk the main drag. We stepped into an ice cream store that was serving generic Hershey's ice cream, a kind I never really loved. I begged off and we walked to Port House Creamery boasting a home made treat.
Peeking into the windows, they were not open on a Tuesday. That is when the doorknob turned and we were welcomed inside! The owner was there and didn't want us to have to leave empty handed.
He generously let us sample our lead contenders with a bunch of metal spoons which was a nice touch.
The cookies and cream was definitely the best I have ever had, half of the cookies go in with the ice cream in the machine imparting a unique color and flavor.
I chose the Apple Butter ice cream. They buy the apple butter each year from a charitable festival, building community. Think of the best, most caramelized apple pie you have ever had. The perfect level of spice. Simply amazing. So creamy. Do yourself a favor and support this local small business doing...
Read moreIf you’re ever in Northeast, MD check out Port House creamery. We ate lunch at a restaurant down the street and was planning on getting ice cream next door to the restaurant, but they didn’t open until 4:00. I’m so glad they were closed because we wouldn’t have found this place. Port House Creamery’s ice cream is home made and so creamy. I had the coconut which is the best I’ve ever had. It was awesome. My husband had the cookies and cream and said his was excellent, too. The service was great. The owners were very friendly and let us taste samples before we decided on the flavor. There are a few tables inside where you can sit to get out of the sun or on cooler days. I will definitely be back whenever I visit this cute little town. I highly recommend you...
Read moreThis ice cream is absolutely delicious, creamy and full of flavor. There is not many flavors, but that's the way I prefer it. I've been to all 50 states and had ice cream in most of them and this is in the top 10. Salted caramel was incredible. Strawberry, apple butter and butter pecan were really good and super tasty. The vanilla was in my top 5 vanilla ice creams of all time, it almost tastes like your eating butter. The only negatives would be that there isn't any place to enjoy inside, especially if it's cold outside and the portion size is a bit small, even with getting a double scoop. Port House, don't change a thing with the ice cream and you'll have a...
