Honestly if I could give it a lower review I would. My fiancé and I were told about the Brewery as a possible venue for our reception. We set up a time over the phone to meet with a staff member to go over logistics and ask some questions we had. We were told 1 pm to meet with a representative. We got there about 12:15 or so to try a couple of beers and get some lunch. 1 pm rolled around and no one came to find us so about 1:15 we walked up to the bar and when finally helped, asked them if our representative was there. To our surprise the bartender we were speaking to was who was supposed to be helping us with the venue. She surprisingly asked us if we had any questions about the venue to which we replied we did as the site covers basic info but not specific stuff that we had tailored to our specific party. She said she was going to serve a few more drinks and than come back to help us. We went back to the room and sat back down but to no avail, she never came back, other than to check her purse that she sat down in the back room, never acknowledged us or even cared we were there. We ended up leaving pretty disappointed in the fact that they had such good reviews online and what we had heard from other people. Unfortunately we do not really have a desire to do business with them ever again, nor recommend them to anyone. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and taking 3 hours of someone’s time to drive out there, wait, and to drive back home and to not ever receive service is very unprofessional. Maybe they typically aren’t like that and it was just that one time, unfortunately that one time was us and we left feeling pretty upset that we were never given the time of day to even let us ask...
Read morereally great rustic atmosphere and excellent craft beer and ciders! a cicerone was on staff to tell us all about the beers and the back of the brewery is visible to all patrons allowing a really cool glimpse into the heart of this excellent small brewery. last time i visited there was great live music. so good, in fact, that i thought i was listening to the radio for about 20 min before i realized that somebody was live. i can't wait for some of the specialty beers to be tapped from the barrels that are visible from the taproom.
my only complaint is that i don't live closer. i live in olathe, KS and still am willing to make the 45 min trip to visit Cinder Block. if i were in the North KC area i think i'd be at this place at least once a week. can't recommend...
Read moreDuring the annual "Tour de Bier" ride, they brew several sweet ciders in the European fashion. These would be even be liked by people who hate beer (like my wife). The food truck outside is great, no indoor food service is present. Decor is industrial chic; on the weekend many people in here have never turned a wrench in their lives. Wonderful tap set up with a large number of lines, seems to have been made by the owner (and friends). Orders are at the bar only. More variety than in the usual craft beer place that has someone else brew for them (Cinder Block does it's own), but it is drifting towards the higher IBU side of the beer spectrum (it seems to sell well). All surfaces are hard, so hearing is difficult when the...
