My favorite place to hang out, period. I love seeing movies there; you get the classic feel of clean retro movie houses, but with digital HD projection and sound. They do a great job juggling the present blockbusters and Oscars noms with retro classics (stuff like Goonies, Princess Bride, etc), and do lots of fun events and double features. They once had a jackolantern carving contest while guests watched Night of the Living Dead around Halloween, and they gave away a New Belgium Brewing Co. bicycle to the winner! Other cool events were the pizza party when showing Ninja Turtles 1&2 together, and for X-Men: Days of Future Past, they had a costume contest and mini pop-up comic shop in the lobby. But aside from the movies, the bar is so awesome. BEST beer selection in KC. No lie. If you love craft beer and trying new brews from around the region, get in here. Food is pretty great too. Arcade games in the lobby are a fun touch, along with the local movie-themed art. I've been a loyal customer of Screenland Armour for years, but the way it's been growing and gaining popularity for the past couple of years makes me so happy. The Northland's best...

Love it! Cute little theater, kind of bummed the one off the Blvd. closed, only because it's closer to my house.

The staff was great, everyone was kind and helpful. They have a bar with snacks, popcorn, candy, sodas, and beer.

It's my go-to spot for any indie movie I'm interested in seeing. Not sure how many viewing rooms they have, but I've seen two. One was half-sized, so I'm sure it's not more than four. They even have a club! It's kind of like a coffee card, buy ten coffees get the eleventh free! It's free to set up, no reason not to do it!

I went with my roommate and some friends to celebrate my roommate's birthday. We stopped and had dinner first, and then we all met up at Screenland for the show. We got our snacks and drinks, all reasonably priced, and then went in to enjoy the movie!

I really enjoyed the vibe of the place. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and you could tell by the oohs and aahs at key points of the movie. We were all engaged, I guess that also speaks to the movie itself.

We had a great time and I'm a member of their movie club now, so I'll be back soon! I recommend if you're looking for an indie...

I purchased several passes almost a year ago because they were running a special and it seemed like a good deal. However, they failed to mention that passes are not valid for 90% of the screenings they show.

The website says "passes not accepted for opening week, special engagements, or when otherwise noted". Unfortunately, that covers just about every single showing that they offer. Sure, there is an OCCASIONAL movie that takes passes, but they are so few and far between, I have not been fortunate enough to make it to any of those show times with my busy schedule. Even this weekend, they are showing a movie that opened well over a week ago, but they have conveniently noted "no passes accepted" on the website. What a shock!

This situation is really a shame because this theater seems like a really cool place based on all the other reviews. I just don't feel right paying more money to see a movie when I was already conned into buying passes that are practically worthless. I feel like I have been deceived and ripped off. If I ever make it to a movie where they will admit me with my passes, I will...

Locally owned and operated! My favorite place to catch a movie. I very rarely go anywhere else. They don’t show a bunch of commercials before the movies, don’t go overboard on the number of trailers, and they don’t do any gimmicky 3D nonsense. Great selection of rotating beers and they make some very delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and popcorn. They also show some of the bigger movies (think Star Wars and Marvel) on Thursday evenings before the official Friday release. Great way to avoid spoilers and you don’t even have to wait for a midnight showing. Plus, they occasionally collaborate with local breweries to make special movie-themed beers and very cool commemorative beer glasses. They also show all kinds of classic movies, so be sure to keep checking their listings or follow them on social media to see what’s coming up.

I can't speak to seeing a movie here, but I can share my experience of trying to plan a private event for my husband's 40th birthday. When I initially contacted Screenland, I was told it was too soon to confirm a booking, but if we could do early afternoon, they were "sure" it would work. As directed, I reached back out a few weeks later and did not receive a response for 5 days. Once I did get a response, I was told they would be too busy to host our event. This is extremely frustrating given that being sure of something carries a much different meaning than "we'll see" or "hopefully." The Screenland has made zero attempts to find a solution. In fact, they never responded to my email asking about a different day. If you value customer service and communication, I recommend looking elsewhere!

Love this theater! A great KC independent theater that shows both current movies and several classics. I’ve seen some cult classics there like The Last Dragon and Manhunter and they also often host events by Forever Bogus like old school SNICK nights or Are You Afraid of the Dark Marathons (looking forward to that this October). The staff is very friendly, laid back atmosphere, and nice cinematic decor. Additionally, they’ve added their vintage cinema themed attached bar, Rewind Video. I unfortunately forgot a photo of their great marquee but if you’re a movie lover you’ve gotta check this place out.
