Reserved Laguna Bay for my daughter's birthday party a month in advance. When I signed paperwork their refund policy stated there were no refunds due to cancellations even for inclement weather, but did not state who cancels. It was very unclear and the lady that processed my transaction did not clarify it either when asking about thunder/lightning. I shouldn't assume, so that is my fault but hear me out... We did not cancel, but thunder and lightning started just before our reserved time yesterday in which the splash park won't allow you to play due to safety hazards. I called the day before our reservation, upon checking the weather as well as seeing thunderstorm/flash flood warnings on the NKC website. I expressed my questions/concerns about lightning and safety, in which he agreed the park would have to close and no refund would be given regardless of who cancelled. He also agreed with my feelings about not receiving a refund or an alternate date and went on to tell me how the park has only been open for 2 years and that even he hopes they update their policies. So, no refund of my $85 and in order to reserve another date they expected me to pay them another $25!!! Pay another $25 when it was a safety hazard to be out?! Who is to say how far out I would have had to schedule it, I already had to schedule it the weekend after her birthday bc it was booked the weekend of, and that was when I called over one month in advance! Also, who knows if they would keep another $25 from our family if there was bad weather again. On top of paying for decorations, food & beverages for our guests and our daughters gifts!! This is a park that operates for free every day of the friggin' week!! And they want to take a kids' Birthday money just bc they are with the freaking city and that is how things work anymore!! The following morning when the rain started NKC still advertised as open online despite their weather alerts. We made our daughters party happen regardless, but they took away her fun!

This may be a great park to enjoy for free, but if you are going to pay for your fun, for your child, for a party for kids/family & friends...do not give them your money!

Sincerely, a sad 2yr old's mom that refuses to throw away more...

My family has had the worst experience renting a shelter through NKCP&R. After a multitude of previous issues, we showed up to our shelter last weekend to find a huge party of people occupying the space. We were told not to show up any earlier than our allotted time frame of 1:30-4:30 where the shelter would be marked reserved and cleaned from the previous party. My wife had to ask the people to leave, which took over 15 minutes off of our time to get our space set up and decorated because they took their time leaving. They left behind icing splattered all over the concrete and an overflowing trash can. The reserved sign was left over from the party before, someone named Amanda from 10am-1pm. So after 3 phone calls (which they never bothered to return) and an extremely stressful start to our event, someone from maintenance finally showed up to change the trash bag and sign and let us know they were running behind- over 30 minutes past our reserve time. We had to clean up from the previous guests on our own. This may or may not have been avoided by at least making sure the shelter was correctly posted as reserved ahead of time, which was part of our written agreement with parks and recreation, but I’m having a hard time seeing where in all this it was money well spent ($80 rental and $50 deposit). This has been a completely unprofessional experience without any decency to return a call and apologize or attempt at making things right. And all of our guests were in...

Every time I drive by this place in the summer it's packed so I waited till the kids went back to school and took my one year old. She absolutely loved it! The fountains are great, the place is clean and there's plenty of shady spots to rest. If you have little one like me, I'd bring some buckets or containers for them to fill up and play with. You might also consider a portable chair and/or a blanket to sit on. There were lots of benches but many were spoken for, and it was nice to be able to just set up a place in the shade. We had such a great time, we'll...

We love Dagg Park. The whole area is kept very clean. It is gated. There are restrooms on the premise (I’ve not used them, but my kids have). There are a lot of benches, and plenty of shaded, grassy areas for blanket picnics. Much of the shade is provided by trees. We especially love the splash pads and stop by several times throughout the summer to play for free. Another great perk is having the wonderful North KC Library behind the park so you can grab some books before you head home. Support for libraries is crucial so be sure to visit and check out materials often.

This is a great, free park to take your children of all ages to. They have something for everyone. There’s a spray ground area for toddlers and babies, and a separate spray ground area for the older kids. Then there’s a playground for the younger kids, and a larger playground for the older kids. All of the equipment is sturdy and age-appropriate. There are plenty of bathrooms. The whole park is clean and has lots of shaded spots to sit. This park is definitely a great asset for the community!

This is a nice little park. It has a nice view on all sides of municipal buildings. The park itself has water sprouts as it's main attraction for kids. The park also has a mixture of fake turf and real grass. My only criticism is that the selection of slides and playground activities seem exclusively focused on older kids. Still, overall it's worth going here even with toddlers, but bring towels and a change of clothes for the little ones for when they get done splashing around.
