We were driving thru Kansas City on a cross-country trip and due to unexpected interstate closures we decided to make the best of it and stop for some Kansas City Q.
The universe opted to reward us for our patience and our roll-with-it attitude when we found the reviews of F325 BBQ.
Easy, off street parking (which was a huge relief since we were towing a cargo trailer), well-lit and safe neighborhood.
Initially unbeknownst to us, we were immediately greeted by the super friendly owner, Lisa, who immediately made us feel welcome. Something we weren't expecting deep in Chiefs' country when we were proudly sporting our Seahawks wardrobe. Nearly as inviting was the giant, well-appointed beautiful bar beckoning us to belly up to it. (picture included)
She spent the exact right amount of time talking to us to figure out what to help us order. Sensing our indecision, she made some stellar suggestions and we appreciated the assist.
Prices are fair and right in line with what you'd expect to pay for great Q.
The sauces were expertly crafted, the meats were perfectly cooked, very juicy and flavorful. We ended up getting the 3 meats (I believe we mentioned some indecision on our part. The cure is to just order more, btw. We had the burnt ends, pulled pork and thick cut brisket. We also tried a small side of the smoked turkey, which was equally amazing and so very moist. I hear it's due to the brine) with the 2 sides. Miss Lisa heard us going back and forth for way too long about what sides we were gonna choose and, finally brought us a 2-bite sample of what we were debating, cementing our choices.
Drumroll...collard greens, mac n'cheese won out. We both agreed that we should have both got the collards because they're about the tastiest we've had outside the south. Also, earning super high praise/honorable mention is the baked beans and the coleslaw. One sentence that I have never uttered nor thought once in my life before F325.
The draft beers were cold and obviously had very clean, well-pressured lines (thank you, Jon Taffer, for my now knowing why some bars have horrible tasting beer). I wish I could have sat there and had 2 or ... more.
The locals were the kinds of folks you wanted to sit next to and engage. Happy, friendly, slightly sassy yet fun-loving.
James, Miss Lisa's husband/co-owner/bartender extraordinaire, was also out and about making a great impression in front and behind the bar.
From start to finish, this place was top-notch.
Not too busy at 7:30pm on a Wed in March.
The ONLY thing we could suggest to this great couple who seems to have thought of nearly everything is maybe a couple of dessert offerings.
After having meat and sides that were so rich and dense, having a nice counterpoint to that, to pull some of that heaviness off our tongues at the very end might have been nice.
We really thank the entire crew at F325 (Fahrenheit 325°) and it's owners, Lisa and James. You're doing it 100% right and we encourage others to make it over to check you out for themselves. You won't be...

Read moreHands down the best place to eat in North KC!!! Better than the “pickled chicken”, or whatever it’s called ;) and I can honestly say it even rivals the “pig that jousts” in Liberty, which had been my favorite BBQ until tonight. (Don’t want to name drop.)
Today is just day seven for them being open. They only had one flavor of BBQ sauce, their signature homemade sauce, but it has enough spice to warm you up and my girlfriend even liked it too. She’s not even really into saucy things! They are making a spicier version soon for those that like some more heat, they say. I think their signature sauce is really good though. Kinda perfect actually.
The brisket and pulled pork are literally some of the best BBQ I’ve had, not just in KC, I’m saying anywhere! Juicy brisket with some black caramelized edges and perfect juicy pulled pork.
Ever since Kelso’s Pizza closed we have been waiting for a great place to eat in the North KC area. I’ll be ordering takeout from them on Sundays for football games.
Fried pickles are great. The mashed sweet potatoes side almost tastes like it should be a desert! The slaw is creamy but still has a bit of a bite like they put just a bit of radish in it or something. I don’t know what it is but it doesn’t just taste like mayo like some places make it. Thick and crispy French fries too. Yes, I did try all of this in one sitting while sharing it all with my girlfriend. I didn’t eat all of this myself. Even took some home because we got too full!
Met the owners Lisa and James. Really nice people. You can tell they really just want everyone to love it. So far so good! As long as this level of greatness continues I’m going to be a regular. (Keely our server was super sweet and very helpful. Another server even stepped in to give her a hand. Shout out...
